Error code: change drum soon

I have already put in a new drum and it still says change drum soon. This has happened before and the help made me do somethings on the printer itself and fixed it, but I don't remember what to do?

What does a belt life ends soon mean, on a brother MFC 9440ch color laser printer?

Are you sure of the error message? The Brother printers that I have used have Drum Ends Soon and Change Belt messages.

The Brother MFC-9440CN has a belt that can be replaced. The Belt unit has an life expectancy of ~50000 pages. The belt unit is part BU100CL and costs a bit over $150 at office supply stores. Amazon.com and some other stores have the unit for under $100. http://www.amazon.com/Brother-BU-100CL-HL-4040CN-HL-4070CDW-Series/dp/B000SC245E is one source.

When the unit says Change Belt Unit, follow the directions from the manual's maintenance section to replace the belt unit. See page 178 (page 189 of the PDF) http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/files/dlf/doc002252/mfc9440_usa_usr_b.pdf . You have to remove the Drum and then the Belt Unit. Then slide in the new Belt Unit and replace the Drum unit. Then close the printer and turn it on. Finally reset the counter from the Machine Info sub menu (press Menu 8 4 and select the Belt Unit and press OK. Then press 1 followed by Stop/Exit).

If you mean the Drum Unit, that is part DR-110CL and costs over $175 at the office supply stores. Order this part when the Drum End Soon message appears and replace it if the print quality deteriorates (or when you have the new drum). The Drum Life is ~17000 pages. The steps start on page 166 (182 of the PDF). You need to remove the old Drum unit. Then remove the toner cartridges from the drum. Prepare the new Drum Unit, including putting the cartridges in the new Drum. Then replace the Drum unit and reset the counter.

I hope this helps.

Im presuming that your have replaced the drum??

if so :
Remove the new drum.
On the front of that drum, there is a green cover. Take it off and what has happened is the flag on the gear had dropped in shipping.
You will see a flag like piece of plastic on one of the gears, reset it to up and somewhat to the right.
Then put the green cover back on
That flag has to be in the up position when new. It passes down and actuates a drum reset switch on the machine.
When that is back in the up position. re insert the drum and on the first revolution it will turn on the switch.

Dear Sir, Our Scanner was showing to change magenda toner and we change with new one, but after end of the process it is showing the error code of E000020-81, even after shutdown 3 times. What else I can...

The error code your gettting E000020 is a drum code (imaging unit). You however do not have the complete digits after the E000020-????. Those digits define which drum needs to be replaced. You don't need to go into service mode to clear the error. You only need to buy the correct drum and put it in with the power off. Once it is replaced and the machine is turned on it will register and clear its internal error code. To help, here is what the ending codes mean. The xx's have further meaning but in most cases all roads lead to the same result (replace drum imaging unit).

-01xx yellow (Y)
-02xx magenta (M)
-03xx cyan (C)
-04xx black (K)

000020-01a2 error code

Cyan drum unit has problems, probably dirty.
Happens when the drum is about to die. How old is it?
Remove the ATR from the right side and clean it and if you're lucky it will start working again but consider replacing that drum soon!

I have a canon imagerunner c3200, I recieved an error message 2004b0, which after lookin at the website found it was the black drum so I changed it out. Then I recieved the error messege 2003b0 which I am...

Hi Lil,
You have been absolutely correct in every way. The problem is that the 3200 you are dealing with has an internal counter for the Cyan drum that can only (according to all documentation I can find and as I was told in class) be reset by the chip that resides on the drum that needs to be replaced. Better put, whenever a new drum is put in,a chip within the drum resets a counter on the copier. The copier monitors the usage of the drum from that point forward using a few variables. And even though you may not see a problem the device will at some point give a code such as yours which means end of life, Canon's words not mine. This is to protect the copier from undue stress that could lead to genuine damage. So by putting a functional drum from one machine into another will not "change" the copier's mind. I searched thru the service modes and there is no true way to reset/fake that counter out as it needs a new drum chip to reset it it. There is a drastic way to do it I suppose which is a main controller reset, But that is more involved that many techs want to deal with, as it is pretty involved as to putting all the factory values(different for every machine) back in and all network settings etc.... .I wish I could have helped more, but I feel I have helped a bit.At least if you need a tech you will be even MORE intelligent than you already are. NOTE* we are assuming that none of the MANY others things that can simulate drum failure are not in play. Take care :-)

Panasonic KX-MB263 - CHECK DRUM- error

The drum unit must be nearing the end. You will need to replace it soon. Check the page count and check for howmany pages the drum is rated for. If the pagecount has reached the rated count, then its ok, if you are far from the rated limit, you will have to check with the supplier for possible refund.

Drum life low replace soon Error Message

I already answered this at some other place here - but just to make sure the word gets out there:

There is a little special (white) gear on the outer left side of the drumkit - a little bit below where the toner sits. That gear joins with toner assembly - and you can rotate it counterclockwise all the way back. This should reset the drum counter - worked for me!

I hope it also does the trick for you ;-)

I fixed the problem (following the user's guide).
1. After reinstalling the new drum unit into the printer, keep the front cover open.
2. Press "Clear/Back" on the machine
3. Press "1" and when the LCD shows "Accepted", close the front cover.

How do I reset the Change Drum Soon on the display?

All you should have to do is: -replace the old drum with the new replacement. -with the front door open press the Clear/Back button -press the number 1 button and when ?accepted? appears on the LCD close the front cover. That should do it. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.
