SOURCE: my new kenwood protalk tk 3130 wont talk to me old 3130

The old radios might hard coded programmed. You need a computer cable KG22 and the software KPG75D. I converted my 3130 to the 3131 which was previously programmed to a retail store. Now I'm back to FRS/GMRS instead of the business freqs.

SOURCE: Programming Software for Kenwood TK-3130 Protalk XLS Radio

The software is only availible from Kenwood. the only way to get it is to purchase the registration key from them for that software. Sorry, I program radios everyday and even the company I work for has to purchase the Registration keys.

Here's a link to the user manual - http://images.kenwood.eu/files/prod/1567/5/TK-3301_Instruction_Manual_B62-2154-20.pdf

I did a quick scan and could not find the answer in it, but it does give a lot of information about programming the radio.

I need to know what replacement antenna to get for my tk-3130

I found the manuals at:
http://www.hitechwireless.com/products/Kenwood-TK%252d3130-ProTalk-XLS.html

This radio is a UHF radio but it doesn't saw on the site what the frequencies are or the type of antenna connection, BNC, SMA, ?
The manual shows 464.5 MHz to 467.925 MHz so an antenna for 464 - 468 MHz would do.

Manual also at: http://kenwoodusa.com/
Contact form at: http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Contact/
See if they have a replacement antenna for you.

I have 10 kenwood protalk xls tk 3130 two of the radio's allow you to talk and you can hear on all ten, but the other eight when you try to talk it is nit heard on any of them. I have reset all ten...

Hi,

You have two that transmit and receive?, if so, you're doing better than some. The other 8 seem to receive well, which makes them ideal for monitoring stations.

I would not fork out too much cash to get them fully operable, as it really isn't worth it, the chances are they have at some stage or other been dropped, knocked about and worn out with (mis)use.

Better you savadamuny, and concentrate on the two that are operational.

Cheers,
Peter

Look at the user manuals for both radios and compare the frequency assignment for each channel. find the ones that match and program the radios to talk to each other.

Keewood Protalk 2 way radio xls receives , but doesn't transmit

Hello jf1111,

It could be a low battery. Does the screen go completely blank when you attempt to transmit? Two way radios draw a lot more power when transmitting then when receiving so a low battery might cause the radio to cut out when you press the Push-to-Talk and then the radios might appear to turn back on when you release the PTT. If this behavior persists even after charging the battery then the battery or charger (or both) might be defective.

If the battery isn't the issue then the radio could be programmed incorrectly. Does the problem occur on all channels or just one? The Kenwood ProTalk requires dealer programming with a software kit to set the frequencies for each channel. A channel that is programmed for an out of bounds frequencies would generate an error when the PTT is pressed. You might need to have the programming checked out by your local Kenwood Two-Way radio shop.

Best Regards,
Ken
