Question about Denon AVR-3300 Receiver

2 Answers

No system configration display on AVR3300 since moving.

We had new floor installed and had to dismantle home theater system. I have a Denon avr 3300 for the receiver. I need to go through the configuration to finish set up, but the Denon system display isn't working. I had orignally connected an s-video cable to monitor output on Denon to Panasonic 27in flatpanel LCD TV at it's Video input 1 jack. I also have a dishnetwork 3800 receiver, DVD player, VCR, and CD changer. I have all the video outputs from devices going directly to TV instead of to Denon then to TV.
I got no picture on TV when switching it to video 1 input and pressing system display on Denon. I added a composite RCA video cable to Denon monitor out jack and connected it to TV's video 1 input jack. Still no picture from Denon. The main reason I need to check config is I have a coxial sound cable from DVD to Denon and a optical sound cable from CD changer to Denon - but when I change Denon to DVD I get no sound, then switch to CD input on Denon I get the DVD audio. The optical and coaxial inputs on the Denon are not associated with a particular device on it's back - that needs to done through the system configuration display that I view.
The manual hasn't been any help - was hoping the experts would know how this reciever works.

Make sure the two switches on the remote are all of the way to left most position before you try using the SYSTEM SETUP button - if the AVR is going into SETUP, the LCD display should be saying "SYSTEM SETUP". (I think that model does - most do).  also make sure that the Composite or S-Video on the TV's input 1 work from something else like a VCR, DVD player, ETC. rule out the TV and the cable first.

WHAT I WOULD DO IF I CAME TO TROUBLE SHOOT THIS PROBLEM, I WOULD VERIFY THAT I HAVE A GOOD CONNECTOR FROM THE DENON COMPOSIT MONITOR OUT TO AN UNUSED COMPOSIT INPUT ON THE TV, MAKE SURE NOTHING ELSE IS CONNECTED TO THE TV'S INPUTS, YES DISCONNECT EVERYTHING FROM THE TV BUT THE DENON MONITOR OUT TO THE TV AND WITH THE DENON REMOTE PRESS THE SYSTEM SET-UP BUTTON. IF ATER THIS YOU STILL DO NOT HAVE SIGNAL FROM THE DENON LET ME KNOW

Hum created by Denon AVR-3300

Look for bad electrolytic capacitors. Swollen up on top or leaking, puffed out on bottom. If they look alright, you will need a capacitor tester to see if any have dried up. That's the first thing I check for hum.

The problem is in the audio output section, or cracked solder connections on the main printed circuit board. But! check the speaker wires for shorts first, if okay! you will need a professional to take this further.

If you have the User Guide for the Denon 3300, go to the "setting the digital inputs" section. The input settings are in the on screen menu called "system setup menu", then move down to "digital inputs".
Make sure that input you are having problems with is selected properly to "Optical".
The Denon 3300 guide is a mess I know and not user friendly in the least.
I have been using the 3300 for 9 plus years with no failures.

I have a buzz / static that appears for the first 15 minutes.

Hi...

I just opened up an AVR3300..It's trouble is that it goes into stndby
at once.
The BIG power supply caps are VERY swelled at the top.

That would be my informed view on why it's bad.

I suggest you look at that being your possible trouble too.

Can't get my setup on denon avr3300 to display on TV. I am running cable from coax in back of recievr to video in on tv?

Make sure you are connecting the receiver to the TV by S-Video, not component.
Make sure your remote switches are on "Audio" and "Deck".  Should work then.

Denon AVR3300 - Resetting activated Protection Circuit

Hi
Remove all speakers cables or wires and check all from behind the Receiver. if there are any loose terminals or any metal object in between the terminals.
though it might be a coincidence that you have a problem in the Receiver.
unplug the power cable from the wall socket and remove all cables.

after you remove the cables plug the power cable in the wall socket and try if you see the protection displayed , the receiver needs service.
Good Luck
