Looking at the HP Support page for Software & Driver Downloads, I don't see any audio drivers listed, for ANY of the Windows operating systems,

Driver: Small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device

The device is the audio (Sound) chipset.
Do not know what the O/S is.

You have corrupted audio drivers.
What leads me to this conclusion is you have noise on your computer speakers, AND monitor speakers.

If it were just computer speakers, per se, I would say they are bad.
Or if it were just the monitor speakers.

Since there are no audio drivers listed, this means to me you need to obtain the Restoration Disk; if you do not have it.
(And I mean disk IN hand; not download from the internet)

Using the USA as an example;
The disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship; $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.
Call 800-474-6836, 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.

Have the Serial Number written down, to give to the nice representative. This is found in the white Service Tag, on the back of the computer.
S/N = Serial Number

For other countries use HP Support Worldwide,

Install the disk in your optical drive.
When asked choose - Repair. (Non-Destructive Installation)

The light on the rear of the sub indicates it is getting power so it is likely that the internal amp has failed, possibly due to age.

My sound is not coming out of the speakers it is coming from behind the monitor.

Your momitor might be having a speaker and the sound is being channeled thru this speaker.

Go to your "Control Panel" and select the "Sounds and Audio Devices". Select the "Audio" tab and pick your current sound card as your default playback device

Go into your sound card settings and reconfigure your speakers. It might require inserting one output at a time and each time the computer will require you to confirm if its "subwoofer" "rear" or "side" speaker.

Hi Expert, I'm using this monitor with my desktop. You may be aware that, this monitors comes with default speakers mounted on it!!! I can't here any sound...could you please help me to activate...

If you have not connected an audio cable to the monitor then you cannot get any sound from the speakers.
Connect an audio cable from the audio out jack on your computer to the audio in jack on the monitor.

When I turned on my monitor this monring it is making a loud clicking noise every couple of seconds.

I was having this same problem with my monitor for days and it was driving me nuts, and being in IT not being able to solve it was even worse. My Viewsonic is a VA2232wm with built in speakers, I muted the speakers on the computer and using the control buttons on the monitor with no luck, it was still clicking. I move my laptop to and from my desk all the time and everything goes to the monitor via a USB docking station except for the audio. The audio cable I have to plug in separately. In my haste, the last time I connected the audio cable to my laptop, I put it in the microphone jack instead of the speaker jack. Once I moved it to the right jack, the problem was solved. Not sure if this will resolve your problem or not, but I hope it helps.

My monitor is making a humming noise from the speakers , because i use other speakers (not the ones on the monitor) this is a problem what could cause this

It is probably a problem with the audio jack, try using other speakers or connect another audio source to your monitor. If the problem persists, you better contact your vendor for a faulty product

Problem with DELL 2408WFP

I have similar problem.  I'm using the HDMI connection from my PC to the monitor and when I connect my audio out from the monitor I get hissing and popping sounds along with the audio.  It sounds pathetic, I also hear the music and audio along with the hissing and popping.
If I connect the audio to the back of the PC the sound is crystal Clear.  I am using Vista 64 bit with NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT video card.  Trying  to Google to see if others are are seeing the same problem.  I just got my monitor on Oct 6.
