Same thing is happening to me, is the bulb bad or is there a different problem...

Is there a way to check the status of the bulb. I think I read somewhere that you can press some buttons on the remote to see the number of bulb hours to assess the life...

I have had the same problem and found an at least temporary solution. On the remote under the slide there is a power save button, set your TV to reduced power and the problem shall not persist.

My Sony wega KDF e55a20 makes a weird sound when I turn it on and it keeps making it until I turn it offp

Since it is a DLP then you have a bad color wheel making the noise. Changing it requires skilled technical knowledge and not recommended for the average person. I suggest calling your local tv repairman to do the job correctly.

My sony grand wega kdf e55a20 power light keeps blinking red. what can the problem be?

Red is an indication signal for power connectivity. Recent devices have two power functionalities. Using the remote control would turn off the display of images to power saver mode. A red power light imiting diode display is indication that requiring display of images is achievable by pressing on the display mode button once more. NOTES; Powering on the device may be achieved with the same function buttons as shutting down the entire Device to least communicate with the power supply circuity from outlet sources. The device is in power off mode ready for repower on with the remote control. Requesting the TV to shut down completely would require to press on the TV button firmly until power cuicuit are disbabled completely. Refer to the TV user guide to ascertain fucntionaility modes usual during operations. Goodluck

TV only stays on for a minute. Screen goes blank for about 2 minutes. Then the picture pops back up on the TV. Model number is KDF-E55A20. Sony Wega HDTV. Made in 08/2006. Please advise....

I think TV on for minute or so, goes to standby and again power up, show picture for minute and again standby.
If above are symptoms then its time to replace lamp in TV.

Let me know if symptoms are different.

KDF-E55A20 55inch lcd tv

There are two senerios to this. It is not possible to tell which one is the true one without investigating in to the set and doing some checks for the cause.

There may be a cold solder connection on one of the boards. When disturbing the TV set from any kind of vibration you made it temporarily make contact.

The other thing that can happen is that there is a part that became thermo sensitive. When turning off the set it cooled down a little and then was able to work until it warmed up again.

The set would have to be properly troubleshooted to locate the exact fault, and then service it. You should take the set in for repair.
