Question about GE PWR04FANBS Wine Cooler
PWR04FANbs wine cooler - the unit (relay?) clicks, but the cooling does not work and the compressor gets really hot. How do I find out whether it is the overload protector or the PTC relay which is faulty?

First question is, are there any fans that are built in that are not running? next is there may be no freon in the unit. Ive seen new stuff from the factory have no freon inside. feel the suction line (the bigger one) from the compressor. It should be cool. The discharge line (smal one) should be hot.

the relay will be burnt up inside, shake it and little pieces will come out if its burnt out. the overload usually is never the problem

SOURCE: Does not cool. Compressor Hot
Sounds like the compressor starting relay. This should be available from from most appliance parts retailers that carry refrigeration parts. It is probably a plug-in relay which is easy to replace. PULL THE PLUG UNTIL YOU GET IT! Constant cycling on the thermal protector will damage the unit.
