I have a dell inspiron 1525 for 6 months.Last month it started to shut down without a warning. It looks like an instant shutdown and i don't get that memory dump message in that blue screen.I've ran a memory test and sometimes it shows that it works fine and sometimes it looks like the memory failes every test.I'd like the know if the problem is the ram or could it be something more serios. Thanks a lot.

Re: dell inspiron 1525 memory test failure
Were you able to do a virus scan
try to get on in safe mode by constantly pressing F8 during restar select safemode
See if shutsdown in safemode
Do you here the fans running when it's on
You may just need to do a restore
Let me know what happens in safe mode

As the laptop is still in warranty period, let us not open it up and loose the warranty. And also that she has taken additional insurance, you can threaten both o=the parties, ie, Dell and the insurer, that you will take them to the consumer forum (or whatever you have equivalent to that) which I am sure you have in your country. Yes, it is an additional headache, but sometimes you have to tolerate such aches and pains.
Do a recovery first and if you are still getting a blue screen on this 1525 call dell and ask for a replacment do not go any further in trying to repair it yourself as anything you do would just make matters worse if its out of warrenty then the only thing you can do is try:
1. clean the unit if there is any dust
2. try new memory modules
3. run a memory diagnostic on it using windos diagnostics
4. recover the operating system.
I have the same computer and had the same issues. It finally got to the point where it no longer tured on at all. I sent it in to Dell and they repaired in about 2 weeks. Send it in now before your warranty expires. But be sure to call support first and get an RMA number or you may never see your system again.
