Question about Samsung HTC550 Theater System
When the player is off and I try to eject the DVD with the remote, I get the message OPEN PROT and the player shuts down. When I try to turn on the player, I get the message LOAD PROT and the player shuts down. I can't reset the machine, it shuts down by itself before. No disk is in the player. nothing is connected to the player (just the 120V is plugged in). Anyone has an idea why ?

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Could be that the lazer is faulty.try multizoning unit. switch on unit with NO disc inside. press enter, press 84269 and press enter again. unit will switch off.

I assume "PROT" means some sort of protection mode. I would check to see if any of your speaker wires are crossed at the speakers or the receiver. If not you may have shorted something internal.

i had the same problem a prot display then it would shut down. turns out i had the sub disconnected(noise complaint from the shaking at my apartment complex) but the speaker wires for the sub connected to the amp or central unit. when i disconnected the sub i left the wires on the floor behind the sub separating the pos. and neg. somehow the wires got moved around and the pos was touching the neg. as soon as i noticed and fixed this problem the system was working fine. my samsung hometheater model is HT-BD1250
