Question about HP Officejet Pro L7580 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Printhead problems I had a paper jam, removed the paper and now it tells me that both printheads have a problem and nothing I do seems to fix it.

There is no true error message, it just starts up saying that there is a problem and continues to cycle through the screen.

I cleaned the printheads manually and nothing has changed.

Is there a way to reset the printer completely?

    Any new thoughts.

Could my printheads be damaged from the jam?

Sounds like a plan, but the download file is an exe and I am working on a mac. Any thoughts?

Does it say what the problem is? Error message?

This is the HP Web site for your printer . In the manual section is the user guide. I'd try cleaning the print heads both through the printer and perhaps manually -- it shouldn't hurt, other than you may waste a couple pages and a few cents worth of ink.

Those instructions appear on manual page 147, which is page 151 of the PDF.

... Maybe? Like if a scrap of paper got inside ... but I'd be surprised if both got damaged in the same way ... That just seems more than a bit unlikely.

May I make a dumb suggestion? You can kind of reprogram the printer -- there's something called firmware, which is like programmable hardware. HP just released an updated firmware for your printer last month -- take a look at that same support link from my last post, go to Software and Driver downloads, pick your operating system, look for the firmware. You might be able to update the printer and see if A) that clears up anything or B) if that at least leads to an error message.

Here is a link to the directions (leave that window open on your computer) and I believe a download link at the top:

If that doesn't work, that HP Web site should have a link to some product support forums. You might be able to get more advice there.

The firmware updater's only for Windows and you're on a Mac? Aiiee.

Any chance you've got a friend, neighbor, coworker with a PC who might be willing to try to help you out?

Looks like HP does make Mac versions of some of its firmware, but not for yours, I'm afraid.

HP5500 UV...after paper jam I have a replace lt cyan printhead message and recover black printhead.

The Lt Cyan printhead may have been damaged by the paper jam.

I recommend removing all the printheads and power cycling the machine (turn off then back on) Install the printheads and check that each one says OK. Replace any that show recover or bad. (HP will replace free if it is under warranty - return it to the store you purchased it from)

Printer says there is a paper jam and there is no paper in there.

first thing you need to do is will do the overriding the error

1. open the pritner access door fo the printer
2. if the printhead or ink cartirdges already in center remove the ink cartridges and the printhead
3. If the printhead already removed close printer access door., Turn Off the pritner then after 10sex turn It own.

4. Now your pritner should detect no printhead installed not paper Jam., If you still recieved paper jam error without the pritnhead installed you need to have a printer replacement call kodak toll free number 1 800 421 6699 ext 05

5. Now if the message is pritnhead not installed., reseat the printhead and the ink cartordges then close the pritner access door., If your ecived same message paper jam., You need to replace the printhead you may also call kodak 1 800 421 6699, and have your free printhead replacement.

Most of the time overriding the error message solve the problem

On the screen appears "check printer" and then "##345"

345 says paper jam or printhead problem, press continue, remove any jammed paper, try re- installing the printhead, the error is an internal communication error.

White lines 1/2" when printing

Sounds like you may have damaged the printhead or the printhead connections.

I'd recommend removing the cartridges and then the printhead and check for any obvious signs of damage or soiling on the base of the printhead and/or on the back of the printhead. There's also a series of contact plates in the carriage unit (the bit the printhead and cartridges sit in)... These pins can become damaged.

Finally... if the process of removing the jam involved a lot of pulling and shoving you may have damaged the feed mechanism... Hard to know without seeing it so worth checking that some paper and/or ink hasn't soiled any of the calibration strips and is causing the printer to get "lost".

Appreciate the above is a bit technical but start with the printhead and work your way carefully through, looking for anything that might seem out of place or "odd".

Hope that helps.

I have just re-started my Canon PIXMA MP610 after it has been in storage for 2 months. It is around 1yr old. It seemed to work OK. When i went to print the 1st page, the paper jammed because of some...

I would suggest removing the printhead, make sure there are no more dead roach's under the printhead, also make sure all lights on the ink tanks are lite up, the first error code you mentioned has to do with the ink tanks, the second one has to do with the printhead. I would suggest un-installing the printhead, then reinstalling it doing the alignment, and that should clear the error code.

Well, here is the proper way of fixing or troubleshooting that paper jam error in your printer

Open the printer access door and remove both of the ink cartridge, then remove also the printhead, after that close the printer access door, without those parts. Then it will show a message in the printer screen, "Printhead is missing or has come loose" or "Printhead Not Detected" Install the printhead, just the printhead without the ink cartridges. After that close the printer access door. Then it will show you a message"Ink cartridges is not installed, install ink cartridges". then open again the printer access door, then install the black ink cartridge without the color ink cartridge. then close the printer access door, then message must be " Color ink cartridge is not installed, install color ink cartridge" then install the color ink cartridge." the message must be,"New printhead is detected calibration require, load paper and press start"

Thats the way of overiding the paper jam error message of your kodak all in one printer
hope this will help you guys

Paper jam

Paper jam out of the box is a doozy. Open the printer access door. If the printhead centers, remove the ink and the printhead. With the printhead out, unplug the printer and plug it back in. Replace the printhead once the printer is up and running. Close the access panel and the issue should be fixed. If the printhead does not center, unplug the printer with the access panel up, plug the printer in and turn it on (all with the access panel up). The printhead should center.

Printer jam...i took the back off i see no paper jamed anywhere. I removed the paper and reinstalled it still the light come on saying there is a printer jam

To resolve this issue please do the following:
1. Open the printer access door(the gray part)
2. remove the cartridges
3. remove the printhead, to remove it press the release latch located on the upper left edge of the printhead where you put the black ink
ff17ccd.jpg
4. Then close the printer access door WITHOUT the printhead and the cartridges.
5. unplug the printer and wait for 30 seconds and plug it back
6. it will give you a missing printhead error
7. install the printhead first, close it and then it should give an error missing cartridges. install the cartridges and if you no longer have the error upgrade the firmware by going to www.kodak.com/go/downloads
I hope that helps. If not contact kodak technical support for further troubleshooting.

No black print

I work for kodak with these printer's.
I provide tech support for them.
For this problem all i would recommend is doing the deep clean on the printhead twice, Doing it more then twice is a waste of ink and if it doesnt fix it the second time it won't.
Also replacing the black ink cartridge.
Also calibrating the printer has worked for me a few times.
I would not recommend cleaning the printhead manually, thats more of a chance to break it then fix it.
I would just recommend calling into the kodak tech support and getting a replacement printhead to fix that clogged nozzel problem.

Paper jam Brother MFC-215C

Norman,

does the printhead run smoothly to the left side of the printer when it is powered on?

If the printhead cant run that freely, it will give you the paperjam message. You have to dismantle the printer again, connect the scanner and cables again when top cover is removed. Press the scanner open contact (opposite to the menu button) and watch the printhead run to the left side. It might be that either the printhead stucks somewhere on its way (press the cover of the printhead. It might be the reason) or the guide rail hinders the printhead to move.
