Our WeatherKing model 13PJA48A01 died last week during the recent extreme cold weather we've had in PA. Serial #7333N110600878 MFD 3/2006. I hear a quiet hum in the outdoor unit with an occassional click - but it doesn't come on. We are running on the AUX heat and have turned off the breaker to the outdoor unit in hopes of preventing any further damage. Can not get in touch with the installer. Anyone know of a simple fix, or is this 2/12 yr old unit shot already?

Have you contacted the company who installed ? try there first, if no luck with the company, contact the manufacture directly, explain to them your problem and try to have them help you with getting the company who installed to do the right thing and replace the compressor under warranty, you may have to pay a warranty install charge, but it would be alot less than having to pay for a whole new compressor, or new unit, put your ducks in a row, get model and serial numbers, date of install, who installed it, and the manufactures warranty on the compressor, that way you will be ahead of the game, best of luck, hope that helped

My weatherking outside compressor isn't big enough to handle my cooling needs. It is 1.5 ton unit, can I put a bigger ac unit onto this one without changing my heating system which is sufficient?

if your indoor unit is 1.5 ton the answer is no
if your indoor unit is 2.0 ton then you can jump to that size.
Note :your duct system may have been designed for a 1.5 ton and may need to be reconfigured for a size increase.
Your hvac contractor should know this?

Hi... We had a new weatherking a/c central unit installed last July...It doesn't work now...the a/c repairman said the coil that supplied the freon broke which then "fried" the compressor? So all parts...

Hi Jan,
Weatherking is right up there in quality with Carrier. The breakdown you describe was not only an inconvenience to you , but also quite costly to the company honoring their 1st year warranty. The company would not carry the brand for long if that continued. AC's are not much different than cars......there are some on the lot that will run for 20 years or more with little to no trouble and there are some that are lemons from the word "GO". Give you serviceman another opportunity to repair your system and offer his expert advice based on his findings. Also find out what warranty packages are available to you and weigh out the options. There may be some Parts & Labor warranty/service plans that will be beneficial to you.
If it is of any comfort, my aunt had bought and AC whose compressor burnt up the first year.......then it lasted almost 26 years before it had to be replaced.......so you never know.

I wish it could all be more cut & dry, black & white, but it is almost impossible to predict how long and well an air conditioner will run. The reliability of the mechanics installing it and the techs servicing it plays a huge role in it's reliability.

I hope you find this information to be very helpful to you moving forward.....even though it was not able to offer a firm, black & white answer.

Compressor Problem WeatherKing 13AJA36A01

Your warranty on your WeatherKing is five years on the compressor. When you buy a compressor to go in your unit it is 1 year. Several resons for bad valves. Dirty evaporator coil, overcharged and bad evap fan motor. James

WEATHERKING 10AJA4801 BAD COMPRESSOR

You have 10 seer 4 ton unit. A compressor install in my company (4 ton) is about 1400 dollars. Remember when you change compressor you only get a 1 year warranty. A new unit can have as much as 10 year compressor warranty. Amana has a 10 year parts and labor with their unit. The new unit will be 13 seer and you may have to install a TXV inside. You might think about changing the whole system with the new 410A system. Either way a new condensing unit is needed. I have not had anyone just change a compressor in an older unit. Just not cost effective. Get several estimates before you make up your mind. Rus

I have a weatherking 13AJA60A01 Ac unit and the condensor fan is not moving, I can hear a sound assuming electricity goes through the system but the condensor fan not working. The unit is just 1 year old...

Weatherking has five year parts on there equipment. You may just have a breaker kicked or tripped float switch. Check for stopped up drain Shop vac **** out stoppage from the outside drain line for unit. Check breaker. The sound you here maybe the contactor. It energizes from the tsat inside. If the contactor energizes. You have a high voltage problem. Your warranty covers aprts not labor. So call a Rheem ,Ruud or Weatherking dealer. Any of these dealers can handle warranty parts. Rusty Feadback please.

This unit was bought June 07 - under warranty - Goodman, 13 sear, 4 ton. Three days ago the cold air was no more. There is no moisture at all in the indoor handler. The compressor sounds like it...

Sounds like the relay went bad not giving the compressor enough electrical to start up which is why you are not getting the cold air. I would recommend if it is under warranty to just let a company work on it and let them deal with the pproblem
