Question about Canon EOS 600D Rebel T3i Digital Camera

1 Answer

We just received our brand new canon t3i in the mail. We formatted the card (a 2GB 700X Professional High Speed Error Free (SD) Memory Card Class 10) and immediately started shooting to test out the camera. Everything seemed to work fine until we tried to apply a filter to one of the photos. The entire camera froze. We even tried turning the camera off and it would not shut off. We ended up having to take the battery out and put it back in. When we did and turned the camera back on we received an error "card cannot be accessed. reinsert/change the card or format card to camera." When I go into the menu and select to format the card I then receive an error that the card cannot be read and to insert a different card. I just tried doing it again and now the camera is frozen on the format screen. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Sounds like there was an error while the camera was writing information to the card. You can try reformatting the card using a computer and a card reader, then replace it in the camera and format it from the menu. If that doesn't work and the camera is locked up you can try to do a "hard reset" by following the instructions on page 176 of the camera manual.

SOURCE: Canon PowerShot SD 630 Digital Elph "Memory Card Error"

Hi,
I'm sorry to tell that PowerShot SD 630 does not support SDHC cards over 2 gig.
If you want the camera to take a card over 2 gig then you are stuck standard SD cards.
The other camera does support the card because it's a higher model.

Regards.

I have a canon powershot a520 camera it it says memory card error only when I use the 8 gb memory card?

The A520 works with SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not specifically designed to use them. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

The screen say's memory card error, card locked, but it is a brand new card. I unlocked it and it still says error

I think you have a HC card, Any SD memory card about 2GB runs at a different compression rate to the 'normal' SD cards. ie High Compression. If you do have a larger card in an older camera it will not read, The camera cannot access the information, and it will not work. If it's a 2GB or smaller, try formatting the card - Go to your review menu, press setup and chose format from the list. This should sort it out.

Memory Error Message

There is a white switch on the side of those sticks, and make sure it is not in write protected mode. If that doesn't work, I am sorry to say that stick might of went bad. Before giving up I would take to a professional film place and have them take a look to see if they can get them off w/o formatting.

Memory card error for 4GB SDHC card on HP Photosmart printer 2710

Well SD max is 2gb, so you can get 2gb if you want.

SDHC max is 32gb. If you are not on a budget, try upgrading your printer to a newer model.

SDHC is coming out with even newer models, now with a class 10 (10mb read/write speed - but very costly).

However, if it doesn't matter to you, might as well just stick with the same printer, since SD cards are coming down in price. Just make sure you get 2gb cards with a good class speed.

Use the camera to format the SD card not your computer. There should be a menu option to format it.
