SOURCE: leaking inside regrigerator

This is a common problem with top mount freezers and an easy repair .Remove the food and the ice maker from the freezer ( if equiped ) . Remove the rear freezer panel . Using a hair dryer , start in the middle , below the coils , defrosting , until you see the drain hole . Use hot water to help defrost the hole . Once water starts going thru the hole , use a small hose inserted into the hole , and blow thru , to remove any unseen debris in the drain line . Use an ALUMINUM or COPPER solid wire , 14-16 guage , with the insulation completely off , and insert one end into the drain hole as far as possible without any force . Wrap the other end about 1 1/2 to 2 turns , around the black rod (defrost heater) , above the hole . When refrig goes into defrost , the heat will transfer from the heater , to the wire , keeping the hole from freezing up again .

SOURCE: I have a westinghouse freestyle fridge and it is

Open the fridge door, locate the dial which moderates the temperature located on the 'ceiling' of the fridge. Remove the light cover, remove the globe. Unscrew the two screws which hold the dial housing to the ceiling of the fridge, let this housing hang from the ceiling in the wires. This will expose a red funnel shaped tray, gently lift the tray and pull it out, you will most likely find the tray drain is blocked with gunk, clean and reinstall. Assembly is reverse of removal.

Hi,
You have an obstructed drain in the freezer or within the drain tube itself. You may have to thaw the unit to fix the problem, but it not terminal and you should not need parts, just need to locate why the water is collecting and clear the tube.
Good Luck

The hose that goes to the water dispenser most likely has a crack in it somewhere inside the door. Usually the heat from the light in the door deteroriates the hose and lets water leak inside the door every time the dispenser is used.

Blocked drain hole

Check for blockage and you are likely to find that is the cause of the interior leak.

Hello,

The drain for the defost is blocked and it needs to be cleared. It's at the lowest part of the back wall above the hump that slopes down to the freezer floor

Water is leaking from somewhere between

Hi

The drain hole is blocked. Easy fix is to empty the freezer and unplug for about 4 hours to make sure all ice in the freezer melts. Now it's the ice under the freezer deck that's blocking the drain hole. That's why you need to leave the freezer off for so long.

Your model must also have an evaporator on the top section because if the fresh food section deli has water below the trays you either have a door seal leak allowing moisture in or the fresh food section evaporator drain is also blocked. I really think your defrost drain is blocked and now everytime your refrigerator goes into defrost the condensate remains inside your refrigerator. Taste the water and if it is sweet it is coolant leaking from the heater core. If it does not taste sweet it is a leak somewhere else. What you suspect is very possible. Start by making sure the drain hose is clear an not clogged. Then check the window gasket. A water hose left running on the window slightly will tell you where the leak is coming from.

Our Westinghouse refrigerator RP241T leaks out the bottom

The water that is produced during a refrigerator's defrost cycle drains into a catch basin behind the interior wall of the unit. The water then drains into a tube which carries the water underneath the refrigerator to a drain pan, where it is evaporated by heat from the coils and the compressor. You should be able to see this tube at the back of the refrigerator.

If any part of this drain system gets blocked, the water is diverted before it reaches the drain pan. It sounds like you have such a blockage. In some refrigerators, you can pull this tube loose at the point where it connects with the catch basin. Blow into the tube and see if it is open. If it is, the blockage is likely in the catch basin inside.
