Try turning both pc and tv off and connect, then turn both on. Also, make sure your Display setting are correctly configured. Goto Control Panel, Display and click on Settings Tab. If your still having trouble. Try changing your resolution and make sure that you have your TV to the right input. My TV has 4 HDMI 3 RCA 2Component 1 Digital Optical many USBs...can get kinda confusing. The connection should be numbered. Switch inputs with your remote til you get the right port. Then work on getting your pc to display correctly. Set your aspect ration to 16:9 first. Most tv and laptops are set this way. GOOD LUCK let me know how it goes.

The easiest thing to try is change the screen resolution before connecting via HDMI. The process is a little different depending on what operating system you're using.
For Windows Vista/Windows 7: 1. Right click on your desktop and select "Screen Resolution" 2. Slide the bar to change the resolution to either 1024x768 or 1280x1024. 3. Click apply.
For Windows XP: 1. Right click on your desktop and select "Properties" 2. Click on the tab to the far right that says "Settings" 3. Under Screen Resolution, slide the bar to change the resolution to either 1024x768 or 1280x1024. 4. Click apply.
Either of these resolutions should at least give you picture when you reconnect with HDMI. Once you get a picture, repeat these steps and gradually move the slider higher to get a better resolution picture. If you receive the incompatible signal message again, just wait 15 seconds and the previous setting will be restored.
If this doesn't work, you may also have to adjust the screen refresh rate. From the same window that has the screen resolution adjustment bar, click the link or button that says "Advanced." The second tab, "Monitor," has a drop-down menu to adjust the screen refresh rate. Depending on your HDTV, the most common setting for this could be 60 Hz, 70 Hz, or 120 Hz. If none of those values work for you, you should check the manual that came with your TV to check what the proper resolution and refresh rate should be for your computer connection.

SOURCE: problem with my asus password
restart your computer and keep hitting "F8" over and over and over until a black screen comes up with a list of options of how to start windows. pick the one that says "safe mode with networking" go to control panel, then user accounts, then delete the password, then restart your computer and see if everything goes back to normal. If so, then go back to user accounts and make a new password and then restart, and see if everything works ok...my guess is that it will. Sometimes it's just weird that way...let me know what happens

have you tried different usb ports? hit the windows key and the R key at the same time and type diskmgmt.msc and go into disk manager and see if the flash drive shows up in the list of disks installed.

It is most likely that your laptop dc jack is loose or dead. Just replace it or repair it. If you are good at computer, you could do it by yourself as the following instructions:
