Amana af12538aes Refigerator No lights, ice, water

I've have this refrigerator for about a year and a half. I can hear the compressor kicking on. And the refrigerator and freezer are still cold.

But there is no lights when you open the doors to the refrigerator or freezer. And there is no lights / power to the Ice maker, water. temp controller pad on the front of the fridge

The problem is lack of power to the control panel on the door that controls everything. When this went out so did all the lights in the Fridge and Freezer. At first I thought the whole thing died on me. It was only when I heard the hum of the compressor and felt cold are that I knew it was something else.

I'm adding this in the hopes that it will help someone else in the future. I called Amana / Maytag up and talked to a rep. They were very helpful.

The first thing they had me try was to hold the lock button for 3 seconds. When that didn't work they had me hold down the door alarm button. When I did I Deg F and Deg C appeared on the display. I had to cycle through the choices by using the freezer up and Down, and make the choice with the Refrigerator up and down.

Seems that the Refrigerator went into a "Sabbath" mode. Not sure how it got there but it did. If you have a problem with your display this should be the first thing you try, since it is easy, and cost nothing.

Oh to get out the setup mode just hold down the door alarm again. Thank you everyone for there help.

There's no ice If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order:

  • It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these:

    • If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire.

    • If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire.

In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary.

  • The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

Small or too few ice cubes If the ice maker is producing ice poorly--making small cubes or too few cubes--you probably have a clogged water line, a defective water-inlet valve, or a defective ice maker mold thermostat that isn't cycling properly. Check these:

  • The water line that's attached to the back of the refrigerator. Make sure you have good water flow. If the flow is poor, repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water.

  • The water-inlet valve. Replace it if it has failed.

  • Check the freezer temperature. If should be 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker mold thermostat. Make sure that it's cycling properly.

Specks in the cubes If you find black or gray specks in your ice cubes, have a look at the ice cube tray. If the protective coating is peeling away, the most economical solution is to completely replace the ice maker.

It seems like you have an issue with the LEDs or display so u might have to just check electronic circuits for that and probably replace them and refrigerator seems to be working as u said the compressor and the freezer works. replace the display unit and it should work fine for you

Look for the reset there should be a button somewhere near that panel. Also check the following or your own user manual.

Unplug it for 30 minutes to an hour and it should start up again. Problem is your compressor is no good. Get ready for a new fridge in 3-6 months.

My refrigerator is six years old and for the past two months is making a loud buzzing noise. The frequency has increased over time. What could it be? It's an Amana side by side model ASD2626HE. Sounds like...

Saw your post a week late but the sound could be the start relay on compressor is weaking or if the water is turned off to ice maker the water control valve will try to fill ice maker if the ice make switch is left on and has no water. I will send a manual shortly, Sea Breeze

The Amana refigerator I have stopped cooling. There is power to the unit, the lights work but the unit is not cooling. The unit clicks every few minutes.

Start capacitor, start relay, overload and windings in compressor need checked. When clicking like that the compressor is overheating and could damage the internal overload. Send model number so I may tell you the correct parts. I will be here if you need, Sea Breeze

Refrigerator compressor never kicks on.

If the compressor "never kicks in," I don't see how you have having any cooling at all.

It could be a relay, or it could be the compressor. If you're lucky, it's a relay. These are cheap. In any event, it will take a diagnosis that is probably beyond the capability of a do-it-yourselfer.

Light is on, fan runs, compressor will not come on, compressor has never made a noise. Amana Distinctions model ARS2665A S/N 0010242568..side by side refrigerator freezer with ice maker.

Below bottom grate is a defrost timer. Turn slowly clockwise until you hear compressor start. If this works, replace defrost timer.
Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Restart after year; light goes on nothing happens - no compressor

If doors were close during the time of not using the refrigerator, I believe the thermostat has become stuck. Straight wire the two wires on back of thermostat to see if compressor starts. Unplug first. Let me know, Sea Breeze
