Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
After a long study i have found that my xbox 360 is scratching discs. i found this out after my favourite game came to be unplayable. They were not the common circle scratchs they were fine straight scratches going in a pattern all around the disc outward. after it got like that i was werey and didin't play it for hours on end anymore! then when i took it out to my shock the disc had cracked in there. i am very careful with my discs not leaving them out and dusting my xbox and tv regularly. these scratches are on 4 out of my 8 discs! any suggestions why?
Microsoft will replace discs scratched by your console. Give them a call and throw a fit and they might also thow some free xbox gold months your way!! GOOD LUCK

This happened to me too with the godfather. the scratch is almost perfectly circular and now i cant play it anymore either. i called the xbox people and they said it was the game. no more of my games have been scratched. maybe you should have your xbox serviced by the people.

The laser may need to be adjusted. we had a playstation 2 that would do that and until we had the laser adjusted did it stop doing it. connie

Tips for a great answer:
Sounds like the xbox console needs the laser adjusted or secured as per the other comments. For any discs issues, read on.
Check to see if there are any scratches or laser burn marks on the discs.Scratches or marks on discs will render game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating "Disc Read Error" or something to that effect. Best remedy for starters, is to clean the discs and make sure there are no scratches or marks left on the play-side of the discs. A common problem that XBOX owners are reporting is; if the console is moved during play, a whirring noise is heard and then when the disc is removed, very visible laser burn rings are found on the disc.
Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but a professional disc repair service is normally required to fix laser burn scratches or damage to XBOX discs.
For further help on XBOX disc repairs or to get XBOX discs repaired back to "As Good As New Condition", visit:
Check the "More Info" & "FAQ" Sections for further details on disc repairs and related matters.
If this laser burn scenario is consistently happening to your game discs especially if the console has not been moved or bumped against while the disc is in play, the games console itself may require repair. You should contact Microsoft for assessment and guidelines.
Hope this Helps!!
