The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Do you know how to copy files from one folder to another? It doesn't matter what type of file: letters you write with a word processor, spreadsheets, or whatever you have on your computer. It's exactly the same thing with pictures. Take the memory card out of your camera and put it into a card reader. Your laptop probably already has a card reader built-in. If it doesn't, you can buy an inexpensive card reader and plug that into the computer. Once the card is in, simply drag&drop the pictures from the card to wherever you want it on your laptop. If you need the basics on copying files and so forth, I suggest you go to your local library.

Thank you no i do not know how to copy files.Their must be an easier way than this.I will carry on looking for someone to help me.

Another alternative is to download Picasa or some other photo cataloging program. The program will then take you through the whole process, including creating a folder if needed.

Thank you very much. That is just the sort of information i was hopeing for.
