Power to the buffalo HD-cx1.otu2 ? I could not find the power source for the external hard drive.

SOURCE: My Buffalo HD-PX320U2 External Hard

First make sure usb cable connected to harddrive is working fine. try it in different usb ports. Press windows key +R key so you can see run then type in run "devmgmt.msc" then press ok so you can see device manager uninstall all usb drivers then it automatic install usb drivers. then check. Also you need to change registry for that type in run "regedit" then press ok then you can see registry editor then locate below key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11 CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} And remove upper filter and lower filter.Then restart computer then check.
Also locate the below key and make sure it's value is 3 not 4. HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\usbstor make sure start value is 3 not 4. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa

the hard drive MUST have a certain type of file to record(save) and your file may NOT be compatible check specs and then you might find answer

Im using buffalo external hard disk. HD-CE1.OTU2. but when i connect to my laptop it shows 'you have to format this hard disk before you can use it" and it is vry slow when i use it n it always not...


Theres a few different types of filesystem the main ones being betwwen Linux and Windows system theres even new ones that are just coming into popularity--so reformat must be with correct type

Check the usb port function in the computer bios settings and be sure that it is set to yes. Connect properly your external drive. If it has two wire usb connections, use both to obtain the maximum power that will be need by your drive.

yes..that is predictable..most externals can not take the boost without a firmware update. check the buffalo site for a driver
