Question about Whirlpool GGQ8831L Gas Dryer

1 Answer

Whirlpool lgb6000kq1 I took and broke down the whole machine, and vaccum it down, check the continuity in all solonids, thermister, and sight glass/visor, reconnect it, and fire it up, with the top crack open, saw the light/flame, ran it for a few minutes, and open the front door and had the owner stick his hand inside, (Performance Test) and it was hot. Close the machine up, and clean and took my tools and pay and left. Today the owner calls me and said that it is not heating still? What went wrong? I will be on my way there after getting a pair of solonids, which is the other reason that the machine won't hold the gas open? Any suggestions?:

Check that the vent duct is not partially clogged, reducing airflow. Overtemp sensor will shut the gas down after a period of operation when this condition exists.

My Kirkland dryer model # sdgs800jq2 will turn on but no heat

Recheck your model number. It is not coming up on my search but I can give you an answer regardless. The Kirkland Dryer is one of many whirlpool dryers sold under a private label so it can be sold at lower price. It works the same as most dryers. The heat cycle is regulated by 2 components other than the heating coil & timer. They are a thermal fuse to prevent fires and a thermister that turns the coils on not to exceed a predetermined temperature followed by a cool down period until it resets. So the heater is constantly turning on and off. 2 problems can happen. 1) The heater coil can burn out or 2) the exhaust can clog resulting in the dryer over heating and blowing the thermal protection fuse. If your exhaust comes out on top of the house I'd be willing to bet there's a clog just a few inches inside the exhaust outside the house. Some of these require you to cut it open to get at it. Before you do that, get an ohm meter open the dryer housing and test the fuse, thermister, and heater coil. There are numerous youtube video on how to do this seach for them on youtube. Most have to do with continuity. No continuity means the component is broke. For parts, see your local appliance store that has a parts department. Everybody stocks Whirlpool parts. And if worst comes to worst, write down you model number and go to repairclinic.com & enter your model number into their self help section for step by step instructions & video links. Good luck.

Not heating

Do a continuity test on the heater coil. No continuity, it's broke replace it. If it over heated and the coil is ok then the thermal protection fuse blew. Both the fuse and the thermister need to be replaced & check the vent where it exits to the outside. It may be clogged and the cause of the problem in the first place. Very common cause. If not addressed it will break down again. See youtube for videos on how to test the thermal fuse & thermister. Just search "dryer repair". Review a few. Some are better than others.

Whirlpool dryer did not work when press start button, it beeps twice

Remove the 2 screws that hold the front bottom kick plate in place and remove the panel. Check the "thermister" located on the blower housing for continuity. If it is bad, here is the part to order.

Whirlpool model LGB6000KQ1 electric dryer. I have to run the dryer two to three times before the clothes dry. There is a little heat, and I cleaned all the vents. Do I need a new heating element?

if the exhaust hose is clear of debris and you feel a good flow of air through it then ' Yes ' I would say that the heating element is bad.

My dryer does not get hot any longer

The heating element and controls are behind the bottom panel. The thermister and duct limit :f5bde0e.jpgb230d51.jpgAny of these that don't check for continuity is gonna be the problema.

Dryer has clicking but doesn't start when you press the start button

have your thermal fuse checked. this fuse is on your dryer blower housing in the back of dryer. If it shows no continuity replace. If you need to replace it check the ducking on your dryer to make sure its not plugged.

My dryer doesn't stay lit

This could be a operating thermostat/thermister if it comes back on again and continues that cycle. If it stays off a long time then it could be the coils on the gas valve. Eric

I have a Whirlpool LGB6000KQ1 Gas Dryer. It

Hello, Unfortunatly your wrong on all 3 counts sorry :) This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Here is a picture of the coils 57d5263.jpgThis The coils are mounted to the gas safty valve, This should solve your problem. Hope this helps, Please feel free to comment again if you have any further questions or concerns. Good Luck! Mike

Whirlpool model LGB6000KQ1 gas dryer runs but has no heat only cool air. The timer when set to timed drying, moves down to off position, but does not shut off. Please let me know what parts may be faulty...

If the timer advances to OFF and does not stop you have a bad timer. It could also be the cause of no heat. Replace the timer first. If still no neat replace the glow bar ignitor.
