Have you followed instructions for your router
and then set up each pc to connect
make sure router is turned on if you have that option
also check to make sure ethernet cords are plugged in to the correct
plugin on router.
You can also try resetting the router

Window live messanger not working

Go to add/remove programs, to uninstall, Find messenger. When you try to uninstall messenger it will/should give you a "Repair" option, do that first. If that doesn't work, try a download of the latest version and try to install that. Else try link below. www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_messenger.htm

Internet setup

few things you can try:
1. check to make sure you're getting an IP address.
2. try reloading the wireless card driver.
3. is you wireless static or dynamic? If dynamic, try configuring it with static setting.
4. If this don't work, try the wireless card on a different slot.
5. if don't work, try on a different PC to see if wireless card is working or not.
It's possible you have a bad wireless card.
good luck!!

INternet and router problems

Have you changed the configuration of your internet at some point? In Vista I think you can change them somewhere in Control Panel under something like "Internet options" or "Connectivity"...

Ensure that all settings are set to allow full speed through to your system.

Another thing is that some sort of Antivirus software may be blocking some of the internet connections, check the confuguration on your Antivirus software incase it is blocking internet signals.

Hope this helps!

Installed cd writer in dell dimension 2100 when i try to play cd it give me erro windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permisson to access the file

It is most likely a bad CD. Try other CD's, and if they work fine, then you have a scratched (visible or not) CD. If very few or no other CDs work, then you have either a bad CD drive or a bad Driver.

Try going to the CD drive's website and find an updated driver. If you already have the latest driver, try re-installing it, then restart your computer. If none of that works, then you should try a different CD drive.

Also, if your not an administrator, try accessing the drive withe Admin privileges. Also, try the CD at school or work, or a different computer and see if it works.

Good luck,

I didnt put a security code in when i set my rooter up and other people can use my internet conection can i put a security code in now or do i have to uninstall it all

Gen this can be confusing really. So lets just try reinstalling the software again without uninstalling it first. There is a possible that you will get a chance to set that password.
I am just trying to think very simple here. Seems like everytime I explain a certain way I find out that there is a different type of route.
