Hotshoe and sync cable will not fire strobs. However, if I connect the sync cord via my SB800 the strobe will fire.... Help :D

What strobe are you using besides the SB800? Probably the best solution is to use a hotshoe extender for the mystery strobe (like an SC-15), and then set the SB800 in SU-4 mode (i.e. fire when any other strobe around it fires).
Sounds like the mystery strobe isn't triggering correctly with the sync signal that the body is giving through your adapter.

Pentax K110d flash trigger problem, I have 2 flash trigger strobes set up and a flash on the hot shoe of the camera, but with shutter release the trigger strobe lights fire but do not show in the pic, only...

Your camera uses a PTTL flash system. That means the flash on the camera fires a "pre-flash" to set the exposure and then the main flash. Your flash trigger strobes are reacting to the pre-flash and firing before the shutter activates. This all happens in a millisecond.

How do I get the strobe light on the Mobilite 300 to stay on continuously?

You can't get the strobe light to stay on continuously, the strobe is a very high voltage discharge lamp which can only illuminate briefly.

But the unit does have a built in modelling lamp at far lower power and intensity, used only to set up the lighting rig and to check for shadows and highlights. As long as the unit is connected to mains voltage then you just use the power switch to turn the modelling lamp on.

My camera worked fine. I took off the strobe and it is showing a F-- on the top right of the info panel and will not shoot a picture. Help please. i need to take it to Africa asap.

Jiggle the lens to make sure the contacts are seated. If that doesn't do it, try removing the lens and cleaning the contacts.

Did you remove the strobe with either the camera or the strobe turned on?

R707 Fails diagnostic test 10 (strobe)

I found my answer to this on another board. Remove the battery and SD card. Use a paperclip to press in the small siver dot above the + sign for about 10 seconds. This resets the firmware.  It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you too.

I cant use dsc h1 with strobe light

If you problem is that the double flash triggers the strobes early (on the first flash and the shot is made on the second flash - dark) you either:
1. Get a wire accessory to command the strobes
2. Put a simple external flash on top of the camera and use it to trigger strobes. If you don't need the light from this flash just point it up of backwards, it will still trigger the strobes. If it does not rotate, you can use tin foil. A very simple external flash will do, as the camera will flash only once with external flash.

My flash is no longer working

The strobe element is often the problem in this camera, if the glass tube cracks or breaks the strobe will no longer function. This part is not difficult to change but please be aware that the capacitor that fires the flash often remains charged and will hurt you if you contact it. Please be careful if you attempt this repair. I have a 10K resistor that I attach to this capacitor to discharge it before working in these circuits. Good luck to you. My exposures come out inconsistent

You cannot use the E-10/20N in Program Mode with studio strobes. Studio strobes are not compatible with TTL (Through The Lens) metering. You will need to set the Mode Dial to Manual Mode. Exposure is determined by flash output , ISO and the distance from flash to subject. Proper exposure can be determined with a flash meter.

Studio Strobe not firing with Coolpix

The Coolpix line of cameras require a "tip positive" sync connection to an external strobe unit (when using the Nikon AS-15 Flash Sync Adapter). On some external Studio Strobe units the sync polarity is easy to change because of the type of plug: On this type of connector simply turn the plug around and insert it with the male pin connectors in the other holes. Other types of connectors (such as the standard "phono" plug) are not generally changeable by the user. If the Coolpix does not fire an external strobe check with the strobe manufacturer for sync polarity info.
