Can I use LPHD-UP hard drive with only the USB cord for power?

No. It needs a power supply. 3.5" harddrives need power supplies. 2.5" hardrives (laptop hardrives) can run off USB power.

MY IOMEGA LPHD-UP3 external/usb memory device, thinks it is full.

click start control panel administrative tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes

automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start

you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive

I found that you get best results by ticking one box then returning after it has finished then tick the other box

hope this helps

Iomega LPHD-UP 500GB power issue?

The fault sounds like a power supply problem. The USB port on your computer supplies up to a max. 500MA and this may not be sufficient for the external hard drive to work properly.
I suggest you get a new AC power adapter for this drive.

Cannot find the Ext.Hard Drive given below in 'my computer' P/N 31770000 Model LPHD-UP Assemblede in China Cannot find any appropriate software to help on your website. Bryan Augarde LWBA@BlueYonder.co.uk

My 'vista' based laptop could not detect the presence of the portable hard drive, nor could my 'XP' based PC and nor could my son's mac. Something fundamentally wrong with the device according to my son who is in the business so I returned it under guarantee and received a refund. Thanks. Bryan Augarde.

Why does my iOmega LPHD-UP USB external HD not work with 7-Port USB hub? Is it the 500mV limitation per port or something else? Works fine if plugged directly into the laptops only USB port.

you got it! may need to get a 'powered' usb hub. another 'wall wart!', but will probably allow use of hub to power usb hdd!
good luck!
