You might want to talk to JVC as this model had all kinds of issues--missing any color, picture inverted or backwards just to mention a few.

The solution was to connect it to a computer and use a jig from JVC and download two up grades on sd cards and install them manually.

I mention this as the Light engine in the set communicates with the main chassis and you in fact may have a issue with that.

At least make a call to JVC---saw about 40 sets with this model where this cures all sorts of communication issues--the engine if "set" wrong could easily cause this problem.

How do I know if I need a new lamp?

Hi,
Yes, if you have not replaced the lamp since you purchased this TV.
Lamps usually last about 6000 hours.
I've seen lamps last much longer than 6000Hrs, it all depends on the usage.
Remove the lamp from the TV and do a visual inspection, see if there's a crack on the glass or the bulb.
If the TV is few years old then the Lamp may be bad.

Buy original Lamp: 800 638-3328

DO NOT BUY the cheap lamp from ebay

Good luck to you.

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

No picture on my 62" DLP Mitsubishi

I am not sure what the problem is, but usually if a lamp is bad, the other 2 lamps will still function. Since you are getting no picture at all, I am thinking it is a circuit board problem. TV electronics are expected to last 3-5 years. After that, many components will start to go out one by one. If you have your tv repaired, I would replace the whole circuit boards instead of just the bad component. The power board is the #1 board I would replace 1st. This is the most stressed board and will cause most of your tv problems.

Picture cycles off and on

I replaced a burned out xl-2000u bulb with an after-market Philips bulb on my Sony KF60XBR800. After a fews weeks, I started experiencing intermittent black-outs with the "stand by" red light appearing. After a couple weeks it became intolerable. I then purchased an OEM Sony lamp and the problem has been gone for months. I read somewhere that the Sony circuitry monitors either resistance or watts and shuts the thing down for board protection. It was said that it is so sensitive it can can use only the Sony bulb. I'm a believer. If the bulb is going bad, i wouldn't doubt the protection circuit can kick in.
