This phone is a digital phone and requires connection to a digitalsystem commonly called a "key system". If you have removed it fromwhere it was connected and tried to use it at home or somewhere else itwill not work. Most home or normal phone jacks are connected to yourlocal provider directly and is what is called an analog system. The 2are NOT compatable without an interface device. If it is connected to akey system then thier is a problem with the port on the Mitel keysystemthat goes to the jack you are plugging the phone into and you will needa technician to fix/rewire this onsite. Hope this helps you. A manualfor your phone can be gotton here:http://www.octelephone.com/4150user.pdf

How do you display caller name and not just telephone number

Caller ID (caller identification, CID), also called calling line identification (CLID) or calling number identification (CNID), is a telephone service, available in analog and digital phone systems and most Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications, that transmits a caller's number to the called party's telephone equipment during the ringing signal, or when the call is being set up but before the call is answered. Where available, caller ID can also provide a name associated with the calling telephone number. The information made available to the called party may be displayed on a telephone's display or on a separately attached device.

We have a Lucent partner 18-d phone system. Display is telling us to replace systembattery. We cannot locate this.

The "18-d" is the telephone set model. The Partner System control unit is where you will find the system battery. It is located in the Processor Module - usually 2 AA batteries.

Display is no longer working, phone still operational

Ok, this is common for most cordless sets, all the cordless set needs to do is to be re-booted. Like a computer.
-> I want you to gather all the cordless phones that do not work, and remove the batteries. -> Go to the base station, where the telephone cable plugs into, and I want you to unplug the power there too. -> Now re-install the batteries for the cordless phones. -> and now plug in your telephone base station.
This resets the phones and you should be able to get your call display back, unless your phone(s) are cooked -or- the display died.
Good Luck.

How to get the caller ID to work on the additional GE DECT phone handsets. You must follow these steps in the exact order :
#1 - unplug the base phone
#2 - unplug the telephone line from the base phone
#3 - remove the battery packs from the phones
#4 - wait 10 minutes. reverse the order when assembling. Put battery packs in phones, put the telephone line back in the base phone and lastly plug all phones back in.
It takes about another 10 minutes after that before all phone handsets start recognizing caller ID.
