Philips SNU5600 wireless USB Adapter fails to install

I bought a "PHILIPS WIRELESS 54MBPS ADSL ROUTER AND USB DONGLE" for a friend as a package containing the "Philips CGA5722 ADSL Router" together with the "Philips SNU5600 wireless USB Adapter".

I installed the router without any problem. However, every attempt to install the "Philips SNU5600 wireless USB Adapter" failed...
When I'm installing the adapter, its drivers are installed successfully, then I'm asked to insert the adapter into the USB socket after which a windows pops-up informing me that:
"Cannot Install This Software
There was a problem installing this hardware:
Philips SNU 5600 Wireless USB Adapter 11b/g #3
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The system cannot find the file specified"

I ran a utility program to repair TCP/IP just in case... But the installation of the SNU5600 adapter still generated the same error.

To check if the adapter is not faulty I installed it successfully at work where I used the downloaded installation software from Philips' website this time as I didn't have the CD with me (Note that I always used the CD when the adater failed to install). So, the device is OK...

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

SOURCE: Failed to install

Belkin drivers are a bit of a pain, uninstall the drivers again and remove the usb adapter, and follow exactly as per instructions, normally driver first, but ignore the pop up about the driver not being a signed windows if it does, just click install anyway. toward the end of the installation you should be prompted to connect the usb adapter, the hardware should be found and then the installation should complete. If driver installed ok but the adapter cant find the the driver plug it into a different usb port and again the found hardware should pop up then install driver popup should show and you should select install automatically.

Is your Telstra/Bigpond ADSL modem has a built-in wireless router?
If the ADSL modem has a built-in wireless router and your laptop does not have a wireless card, then you have two options to connect your laptop to the ADSL wireless router/Internet -
1. Purchase a PCMCIA wireless adapter and insert it into the PCMCIA slot in your laptop. One of my favourites is made by Netgear.
or
2. Purchase a USB wireless adapter, the only disadvantage with this solution is, it uses a USB port and if your laptop has only one USB port. This is a problem if you need to connect other USB devices. Then you also need to purchase a 4 port USB hub to give you additional USB ports.

Netgear wireless adapter wg111t will not work work

It's impossible that the wireless router cannot detect your wireless adapter wg111t.

You try to test another one if still have a problem connecting with your wireless router.
If that router can see another wireless network available then maybe your Netgear wireless adapter have a problem incomplete installation or the wireless device is defective.
I have encounter like this before so maybe it's the same with.
Hope my tip will help you a lot.
Good luck!

Check and see if this setup guide matches your device?

If it does we can probably search for more information.

Did you configure your router using WEP, WPA security (using passphrases) on your router?
Did you enable MAC address checking on your router?

Dell wireless 1450 usb adapter

any wireless router will be ok, they are all the same standard normally 802.11G, but if your adapter is 54MBPS go for a 54G router, or if 108MBPS, go for the faster router.
