Question about Sharp "XE-A406 Cash Register, Thermal Printing, Dual Roll Register Tape, 2-li"

Open Question

I have a sharp XE-A406 and my Net3 total does not match the transactions on my Z tape? Has anyone had this issue?

Drawer has $5,000 in actual transactions but Net3 shows $11,000. My charge2 transactions are much higher than the actual transactions listed above

My cash register Sharp XE-A202 won't let me do any transaction. Can't even open the drawer all is see on the display is 18-18 now.

That looks like the time display. Press clear (CL) button. If it doesn't beep, you have a hardware problem - probably keyboard failure. If it beeps, press the cash button and see if the drawer opens.

When turning on our sharp XE-A42S cash register in REG mode it lets us enter in a price, but when we go to push the department key, it beeps and displays misoperation...

Firstly, press subtotal (ST) button. If a price appears, you are in a sale and it is waiting for you to finish (try another method like credit). If it gives an error or beep when you press ST button and the drawer does not open when pressing CA/AT/NS, you probably haven't signed on. Try signing on using a PIN number (see clerk sign on in your manual)

Shap xe-a506 does an overlimit on all my payouts, how do i fix this?

It is a bit difficult to understand the actual operation you may be performing on the calculator. I am assuming you refer to change return amount after a transaction is finalised.

Please refer the user manual at this website.
http://www.cbspos.com/usermanuals/xea506.pdf
The example on page 13 provides the steps to follow when customer pays more than the value of the transaction and is due for receiving some change.
Also refer to page 21 on ways of finalising a transaction.
It might be worth doing a daily sales report to check if the system is keeping track of all the cash received and the change provided. If this is correct then check the programming of the transaction finalisation key.

I cannot connect my sharp xe-a506 cash register to my computer. my computer's OS is windows 7 (64 bit) and i cannot find a driver for the cash register.

http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx?model=XE-A406

It took me a while to find the Windows 7 64-bit driver for the XE-A506, but apparently it is located under the XE-A406 version. Eventually, this one worked for me: but don't forget to run the program as administrator (properties - compatibility - "Run this program as an administrator").

By the way, the manual was a bit unclear on how to install the drivers (for me at least). This is the whole process that actually got it working in my case:

  • Go to "Devices and Printers"
  • Right-click the device under Unspecified - select "Properties"
  • Select the "Hardware" tab
  • Open "Properties"
  • In the "General" tab, select "Change Settings"
  • Select the "Driver" tab
  • Here the option for "Update Driver..." should be available, open it
  • Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
  • Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
  • Press "Have Disk" (sometimes this option isn't immediately available, first press "Next" in that case)
  • Select "Browse"
  • Head to the location where the driver (*.inf) is downloaded, something like "Downloads\SHARP XE-A406_A506 SOFTWARE - 64bit\Sharp XE-A406_A506\Setup\program files\SHARP ECR TOOL\XE-A406506 Customer Support Tool\Driver\Win64" and select it
  • Press "Open"
  • Press "OK"
  • Press "Next". The driver should now install.
And again, don't forgot to Run as Administrator when starting the software: without this, I still couldn't upload data to the device.
