Philips 6827 shaver with batteries that will not recharge.

Can I remove the batteries and use it as a plug in only unit?

I guess I didn't explain properly? As the batteries are corroding to much power is being used to try and charge them causing the shaver to run slow. I would like to remove the batteries entirely, not replace them, and use the shaver as a plug in unit only. Manuals and support are useless as they only say to replace the batteries?

If you're not in the US, refer to where there is a listing of countries, and you should be able to select "Contact and Support" option from the main page.

SOURCE: The braun 5510 shaver.. rechargeable or not

If working properly, model 5510 will work either from the internal rechargeable batteries or directly from the cord. If your shaver no longer recharges, it needs to have the rechargeable batteries replaced.

SOURCE: How to open Philips shaver 7110X to replace batery

Remove 2 screws on the back to remove outer cover. Once removed, you will see 3 more screws that must be removed on the inner cover. Remove screws and cover to get to the battery.

When installing the battery, I suggest that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather that removing them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can them solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

You will find a battery for your shaver at See link below.

Philips STRONGLY recommends you do not insert any other battery into the razor, whether it be a normal battery, or a rechargeable battery. If your product is still under warranty you may be able to get a replacement.

Rechargeable batterys need replacing

You will find the compatible replacement battery at See link below

Remove back of shaver by taking out 2 screws on the back near the bottom. With back removed, you can access battery. For easier replacement, it is suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

I have a 3805 Philips shaver - no low battery indicator - how do i know when charged?

The 3805 has only a green charging indicator. This light will illuminate solidly when plugged in. Charging takes a full 8 hours. There is no indicator to tell you when to recharge. If the batteries are in good condition, you should be able to use the shaver for 7-10 days on a full charge

Battery needs replacement

Replacing the batteries is not an easy job. You need to have a special Torx screwdriver to undo the screws.

The batteries are soldered onto the Control Board (it's unfortunately not just a case of cracking open the case and putting in batteries in an instant)

It may be worth speaking to your local Philips Service Center (refer to

Your shaver should also be a Mains shaver - if you plug it in and it works full power immediately you've got a workaround. I usually recommend if you're replacing a shaver to spend a little more $$'s to get one that is mains and rechargeable so that when the batteries die, the shaver is still useable.
