Remove the battery. Short the two jumper (or the two battery clips if you can find it) . Replace the battery and the password will be no more.

When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as user to log in if you cant log in

The most common way that we know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing the Cmos battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased. Hope this helps you

you could try Compaq as the bios password some manufacturers place this password on there computers for maintanance reasons
or you might
On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is. If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper. This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard. If all else fails, you may have to clear the BIOS password by resetting the RTC (Real Time Clock) IC (integrated circuit) on your motherboard. Many RTC's require an external battery. If your RTC is one of this type, you can clear the BIOS password just by unsocketing the RTC and reseating it. RTC's which require external batteries hope this helps

Correct, you will not be able to get around this password issue without replacing the board. Do you mean boot password? The bios admin password only comes up when you tell it to go into the bios. If it is a boot password and she does not know what it is, there is a chance she doesn't really own the laptop. I have had this happen to me before. Be real careful on this. I suggest pulling the drive and looking for documents with the name of the owner on them to confirm they are the same.

I think the BIOS might be fried on the motherboard and thats causing the no video then. It would need to be replaced. Let me know the exact model and I can verify for you if the correct BIOS was installed so at least you can know for sure about that.
