It sounds that the T'Con board has the fault. Check all the cable connections to LCD pane to T'Con board for firmness.

What's the "T'Con board"?? I pulled the back cover and the only boards on the back are the Power Supply board, the Main Board, and the HDTV Tuner boards. I've been told it could be the Power Supply board. Thankfully, there's only a few boards on the back of the unit, and they're easy to get to. I've called EQD support and asked them to ship me what board they may think is failing.

This model is specifically the EQ5588, PLD-55F1EQD. I've seen PS boards for between $50 and $100 on either eBay or reseller's sites. I'm inclined to start with the Power Supply board first.

    Here's the board.

Here's a picture of my TCON board. It appears I can buy the TCON board for $50 and the Power Supply board or the control board for $100 each. I really don't know where to start first...

Just start with T'Con board itself. Check this link for further assistance.

I ordered a replacement TCON board from Part numbers matched. Swapped, and this is what it loks like. Swapped back to the original card and display corected. Bit only for so long.

Here's what it looked like before. Didn't always happen. VERY inconsistent.

Normally the menu is generated in the LCD Control Unit. If your menu looks good, but the defect is behind the menu, I would suspect the Main PCB. Good luck to you. Part# is DUNTKD934FM01-V1.

That's a problem. If it's still in warranty you're in luck. Either take it back to the store, or call Sony to have it repaired under warranty. If it's out of warranty they can send a third party servicer to your home to the tune of $400 labor (in 2008) plus parts in the US. I will say this much, if it turns out to be an LCD panel issue, the panel will cost about the same as the TV itself when it was new.

The issue you describe sounds like the scan frequency isn't right for the video you are watching. In other words, it should be 720P and it is running at 1080P instead, and you wind up with a horizontal fold-over type of line.

That makes that new OLED TV a little more enticing!

My led samsung tv has a horizontal line and the upper right corner shows a white vertical lines

Not good. You may have a tab failure. A repair shop may be able to diagnose and repair this, but most likely the lcd panel is broken. The panel is the most expensive part of flat tv's. A new panel will cost more than a used tv.

After a household power blips during bad weather, we have horizontal lines ....

Unfortunately there isn't any way to repair your tv as the magnet has distorted the tube that is in the tv and with CRT becoming obsolete the repair is likely to be very costly so probably your chaepest option is to buy a new tv .

Syncmaster 245B Monitor Shivering horizontal lines

Which type of video connector are you using? VGA or DVI?

If you are using VGA, the horizontal line could be due to interference, like from an electric motor (fan) near the video cable.

Other thing to try is to change the refresh rate. In Windows XP: Control panel --> Display Properties --> Settings tab --> Advanced button --> Monitor tab --> Screen refresh rate. The default ot 60Hz for LCD monitors. Bump it up to 75Hz. That could give a clue to the problem or maybe even fix it.

Sure it can be fixed, I think some components on the main board needs resolder on their soldered joints. Try this first before thinkig of getting a new one.
