Cooling fans compaq nx9010

Are these always on or are the heat controlled? They do not seem to start on power up. Also should there be a space under the laptop or is there enough clearance for the fans to operate?
Thanks

Well usually colling fans in laptops are always on. but i have encountered models that seem to temperature controlled, like the one my brother is using. as for the clearance if you can feel the heat of the laptop coming out from the keyboard, you'll need to atleast put some clearance underneath to properly disperse the heat.

How does the fan work in the 7010, is it always on or when it needed to. my fan worked for 3 sec on power-on startup and will not work after until the next startup.

It is normal. If the temperature of the system exceeds the limit, then the cooling fan will start to work.Run a film or video file for atleast one hour and check whether the cooling fan work after the sustem heats up.

My computer is overheating and how do u clean the fan

need to blow all the dust out of the vents on the side and bottom of laptop and check out the fan while the laptop is running. If the fan seems to be running slow, the bearings may be damaged and you may need to get another fan.

Nx9010 fan noise

What your after is a software fan controller, it might be possible to find one but your fans spin for good reason. The cpu runs very hot in those laptops and needs sufficent cooling when its busy otherwise it will overheat. Something that might bring the need for the cooler down to a minimum is a Laptop cooler fan that has two large lo speed fans underneath your laptop to keep it cool. I found this:http://www.it247.com/Product/255-761345-75004-2/?channeltype=InternalPCCables&level1cat=Computers&keywords=255-761345-75004-2&prodid=255-761345-75004-2&level2cat=BareBonesPCs&campaign=froogle|internalpccables|-&utm_medium=InternalPCCables

sorry about the huge link. I would do some shopping around for an item like this.

Hope it helps

Hello, this is the inside of your laptop:

ddbb582.jpg

So the fan you see at the rear pulls in cool air for the main processor & it exhausts on the left hand side through a grill which you can see. It should spin up on power up of the laptop & you should fell air moving out of this vent. It is most likely temperature controlled so will only come on when the processor gets hot. If the laptop is running hot and the fan is not spinning you need to have it checked.

You can download the service manual on the following link:

Hi - What you see is the fan that cools the main processor:

It will spin to cool the processor when it gets hot so depending on the surrounding air temperature it may not spin. Usually you can feel it spin up briefly when the machine turns on, try placing your hand over the vent when you switch on. If the laptop seems to be running hot & the fan does not spin then you need to get it looked at as overheating will cause a failure in time.

HP NX9010 automatically shutdown

Definitely a software problem, somewhere along the installation process, the data on the CD is being read wrong. Try a different installation disk, and see if this fixes the problem. If not, then it could be that there is either a problem with the CD drive, or the IDE controller for the Hard Drive.
