Question about Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM Monitor

Open Question

Monitor cannot power on

I powered on my monitor and heard a loud explosion like sound and since then I am unable to power it back on. I've proceeded to check for bad caps but all seem well. There seem to be a black burnt like residue in the middle of J823, J825, BM801, QM802 and QM803. Please help! Thank you so much.

Although my turntable seems to be fine there is hardly any sound coming through my amp/speakers from it. I'm using a different power lead for it since I've lost my original but it fits fine an

your needle has worn down, or the RCA leads(red & white) arn't plugged in to the phono socket on the amp,or you haven't selected phono on the source select,or you have the tape monitor button switched on.

Try another monitor and see if it acts the same way. Borrow a monitor from the next door neighbor for an hour or so or from a relative and see if it behaves the same way. If not, go purchase a monitor.

You've confirmed the cable is good? Have you confirmed the monitor is good? Try the monitor on another computer and if it fails, more the likely the monitor is bad. If you press the power button on the monitor and there is no power light coming on, the monitor is bad. You said you got it to repair, well, I'm thinking it's not fixed.

Watching TV and all of a sudden a loud pop came from the back of the set. Doesn't turn back on after unplugging.

Hello
Check its power supply regulator board. The pop sound you heard may be due to an explosion to any electrolytic capcitors on it. If the line voltage exceeds, this fault will happen. just repalce the damaged component. It is best to replace this board as card basis.

OSD Lock out on HP Monitor

I've seen this solution suggested: Unplug the monitor from power. Hold the power button in for about 30 seconds to completely discharge the capacitors. Now power it back on.
If that doesn't work, go into the monitor's menu and do a factory reset. Hope it works now.

Heard pop sound, then no power

Sounds like your monitor just fried itself.
Since monitors are hazardous, tricky to fix, and are quickly outdated within a year, by a monitor with a bigger size and resolution.

To answer your question: Your monitor is bricked, and will need to be replaced with a new monitor.

Just fixed mine. Maybe it's a few years late. Hope you guys still have the display. It's the power supply board. I've just replaced 4 bulge capacitors near one edge of the PS. They are 2x1000uF 10V, 1x470uF 25V & 1x470 10V. I salvaged my parts from an old CRT monitor. Hey you can go green with your repairs too!
