Any 6 gal will fit in same cut-out (hole) . 12-5/8" H x 16-1/4" W x 17-5/8 deep. In order to move up to a 10 gal, you need to be able to cut hole a little bigger. 15-3/4" H x 16-1/4" W x 20-5/8" deep. Usually your depth will allow , and width is same, just a matter of whether you have room to make height bigger.

SOURCE: Atwood GC6AA-9E water heater isnt working properly

The ignitor is also a flame sensor. If it's not working to ignite, good chance it's not sensing flame to keep gas flowing as well. Could also be board.

SOURCE: HI I HAVE AN ATWOOD WATER HEATER MODEL NUMBER

By model number it tells me that you have Electric element, as well as gas with electronic ignition for the gas, is that correct?
Any 6 gallon Atwood will work, and if you want to have all the same features available, you simply order another 6 gal, with same features. If you decide to forget the electric element, and just go with gas and electronic ignition, they should be able to order you just that tank. You can even order a tank with manual ignition, and forget all the other options if you wanted to. Personally, if it's got hydro and electronic ignition for gas, I'd replace it with same, unless I have no access to hydro, and will never use that option. If all those options are working on yours, you can just replace the tank, rather than buy all those items new on a complete tank. Any 6 gal. Atwood will go in the hole, it just depends on what you decide you want. I don't understand what the confusion is about, but maybe I'm missing something here.

Converting Atwood RV Gas hotwater heater with Electric ignition with a Gas/Electric

If they are on outside of tank , I'm thinking your new tank has motor-aid feature as well. That is used to circulate coolant through from engine of motorhome while driving and it keeps water heated. That feature usually adds to price of tank. Hope you didn't pay for some feature you"ll never use.

Need to replace G6A-6E Atwood waterheater, what replacement model can I use?

Why not the same model/size? Atwood 6 gal, works on propane with electronic ignition. Or, you can get the 6 gallon with electronic ignition, and electric element as well provided you are willing to run hydro to water heater as well, if not already there. Check any RV parts site for prices and availability. Some places are out of stock currently. I assume your current tank is leaking?

I have atwood GC6aa-9e, will not fire the ignition tries 3 sets

Have you tried temporarily removing the thermal cut-out from the circuit to see if ignites then? It's the little resistor looking thing inside the plastic sleeve/cover that runs to thermostat. Disconnect it from the thermostat terminal, and from wire that is on the other end, and you should be left with a female spade connector at end of that wire. Connect that directly to thermostat terminal where the other part was connected, and try it. If it works, the thermal cut out is no good and needs to be replaced for safety reasons, in case of flame out of control, it blows and shuts gas valve off.

I have model gc6aa-9e water heater. I think i blew the 120 element by turning on breaker B4 filling water tank after winter; The schmatic that came with camper shows part # 91160. Is this corect and if so...

Yes, That will do it. Most RV appliance parts can be purchase at RV dealerships that have parts department. Camping world has always been very helpful. As far as A part # is concerned I can't confirm although it is good to have it and the make and model of the unit. Good Luck
