It is much easier to learn a new trick without the rope and then when you have the moves mastered, to add in the rope. Whenever I tried a new trick with the rope, I kept tripping up over the rope so it was way harder and took much longer to learn the moves.

What's a fun, original activity for a 5 year old to have him learn new skills?

There are a lot of games that stimulate kids to learn new skills.
One particularly unusual activity is the Lasso.
The Monkey Business Sports website suggests the Big Daddy EZ Lasso set, a lasso rope that kids can use to practice cowboy skills with the help of a training DVD with beginner to advanced tricks.
This game would provide the child with stimulating activity, promoting motor skills and concentration, and the satisfaction of learning new, uncommon skills.

I just bought the Weider Beaded Jump Rope and it is too long for me is there a way to shorten it without ruining it?

if you're careful and crafty you can try to take the beads off the rope and use a scissor to cut the rope to your ideal height, If the jump rope isn't constructed to be disassembled or you don't wanna take the risk, try tying a knot on both end of the handles to shorten the rope. btw you probably know this already, but when trying to determine the length of a jump rope you should stand on the center of the rope and make sure each end of the handle reaches your armpit or at least your chest

What is the origin of jumping rope?

Cendali was a football player and his coach told him to run up and down stairs or jump rope. He chose the stairs until it became too slippery in the winter and then he started to jump rope. He became really good and learnt new tricks. By then, he was a gym teacher and taught his students jump rope. In the 1970s, Cendali spread jump rope all over the world. His students formed the rope skipping display team and travelling with him.

How do you do the heel-toe in jump rope?

Start jumping. When you land, your left heel should hit the floor when you land on your right foot and then your right heel should touch the floor when your left foot lands. Keep alternating according to this pattern. For further instructions go to http://www.livestrong.com/article/144274-easy-jump-rope-tricks/#ixzz2GovsitAR

I have mastered the art of bouncing and stopping on my trampoline and really want to learn some basic tricks. Can someone recommend a good place to start?

The most basic tricks to learn as a beginner are tuck, pike and straddle jumps. I think you would benefit from reading about them from the following site,

and if that doesn't help, I have also found you a series of videos that will tutor you through some of these tricks,

Donkey kong slipshyde ride i cant get past this level

Animals - None
Enemies - Army, Klap-Trap, Necky, Zinger, Kritter
Bonus Levels - Three
Animal Tokens - Enguarde, Expresso
- K -
Slowly walk ahead until you see the jumping Kritter. Jump on him when you get under the high rope and ride up, jump to the left and use ther barrel to break the wall and enter a bonus level. You have to spell out KONG. The prize is an Expresso token. After exiting, jump off and jump onto the two Kritters. Jump onto the rope. At the top, jump off, pick up the DK barrel and kill the Army with it. Jump onto the rope, and when you get to the top, jump off and you will land on the K
- O -
Run to the right and jump onto the rope. In the middle there is a barrel. Choose Diddy before you pick it up. Jump down and break it into the left wall to enter the bonus level. In this level, you have to spell out NINTENDO. You win a red balloon if you do this. After the bonus level, run right, and kill the army, and jump over the Zinger onto the rope. When you get to the top, jump onto the left rope to avoid the Zinger, then the right, then the left. Jump to the left, and if you want the banana bunch, kill the Necky and jump up there. Go through the small gap, and jump on the Army if you got Donkey. Jump high on the rope and quickly jump to the other side. Walk down the slope and jump on the Kritters. Jump on the first rope, go down a little, jump to the second then quickly jump onto the third tope and into the checkpoint barrel. Walk left and avoid the Klap-Trap, jump onto the rope and into the auto barrel. wait until a jumping Kritter comes. Jump on him, then climb the rope to get the O and two banana bunches.
- N -
Jump back down and run to the right, avoiding the two Klap-Traps. When you get on the rope, on the first three ropes, jump immediately to the right. But on the fourth rope, wait and then jump back onto the third rope to reach a bonus level. Go to the far right rope, watch out for the three Zingers. Jump to the right and get the N.
- G -
Take the DK barrel, and throw it on one of the two Zingers. Go above or below, depending which one you hit, the Zinger and jump on the rope, and jump to the left. Take the rope to the top, and then take the six ropes and jump to the left. Then jump the rope and jump to the other side. You should be next to the red arrow now. Jump onto the two down ropes. Always hold up during this section. Hold northwest and northeast depending which rope you are on. When you reach the top, jump over and hit the G. Run to the right and Exit.
