I agree. Re imaging or reinstalling the windows operating system seems like the only fix at this point since it seems like the anti virus isn't picking up the virus. Back up the files on an external hard drive and just reinstall windows.

Svchost error memmory

Svchost.exe acts as a host for a group of services on your computer. As you are aware there a many services and programs the run silently in the back ground. Svchost.exe pools many of these services in one group and runs all at the same time. This is a great for efficiency. However, it can cause your CPU to spike to 100%.

As mentioned before svchost.exe is essential. So the trick is not to block svchost.exe, its to limit your computers need to use it. You can limit your computer need for svchost.exe. By cutting down on the services that are loaded when you PC starts. This can be done quite easily.

1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type: msconfig
4. In the "system configuration utility", Click "services" tab
5. Uncheck all services that are unnecessary.
6. Click "OK"
Uncheck the suspecious services but make sure you do not stop necessary services. Restart the PC to take them affect

Svchost

"Svchost.exe" (Generic Host Process for Win32 Services) is an integral part of Windows OS. It cannot be stopped or restarted manually. It manages 32-bit DLLs and other services. At startup, Svchost.exe checks the services portion of the registry to construct a list of services that it needs to load. In normal conditions multiple instances of Svchost.exe run at the same time. Each Svchost.exe session can contain a grouping of services, so that separate services can be run depending on how and where Svchost.exe is started. This allows for better control and debugging. The svchost.exe file is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. In other cases, svchost.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm! To detect if it's a virus sometimes it will add letters to the Svchost to read thus SSVCHOST or SVCCHOST or something like that, thus making multiple services to run and slow down the computer, if that is the case the current antivirus you are using is not removing the virus, this can be done in the registry, its a complicated process if you do not know how to do it, so i would suggest you purchase a registry cleaner. NOTE: remember to backup the registry before you clean it

Generic host error

Hai,
svchost.exe is a system file, and it seems this file has got corrupted some how.
Try this, if u have the install CD of the OS, try boot from the CD
and go for new installation, in the final Partition selection part u will get a OS repair option. Press R and the system will repair the corrupted files to its original.
Then go for a full virus scan with an updated antivirus utility.
good luck

Svchost.exe

svchost.exe is apart of windows. It sounds like your system was infected. When you install security on a system thats not healthy, the infection can compromise and corrupt your new security causing it to not work correctly, or show false positives.

Mcafee and CA both aren't that great. I recommend the paid edition of Malwarebytes and AVG. Both work much better then CA, Mcafee, Norton, etc.. just to name a few.

At this point your going to need to get the system healthy. This is the dangerous part I recommend letting a professional help you, because remvoing infections can cause data loss and you risk making the system even worse. I recommend NickLockard.com
