You shud check the specs of ur tv. Most of dem don't support mass storage devices. To run hardisk u need to buy a media players which supports storage device upto 1 tb.
If u want to run it so badly reformat the hardrive to FAT format from NTFC.
Dis shud solve ur problem

SOURCE: I recently added a Seagate

Hi!
I think I would run the setup application and see if it helps. You're relying on the Windows drivers for the drive and who knows how well they work.

1. Turn the computer off completely.
2. Disconnect the USB drive and any other USB devices (for the time being).
3. Turn the computer back on, put the installation disk in and follow the instructions. Don't connect the USB drive until you are asked! Having it connected before asked may not allow the installation process to work as it should.
4. When everything is installed, hook your other USB devices back up and see what happens.

If this doesn't work, go to the Seagate site and try out their external HD troubleshooter.

Hope that helps! Remember to rate the solutions!

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. Code 43 This message pops up in when i plug in my SeaGate Free Agent GoFlex hard disk.

Try this as a possible fix.
This trick can quickly fix many mysterious hardware failures

The other thing I've heard of happening is a few of the USB 3.0 ports having problems with USB 2.0 equipment. I know it should be back compatible, but Windows can have problems. Try another USB port to see if that helps.

Does the SeaGate cable have 1 or 2 connections to the computer? Unfortunately, most external hard drives need to connect to 2 USB ports to get enough power.

I just looked up this problem on Seagate's website, and they pretty much come up with the same answers. Uninstall and re-install the USB drivers with the SeaGate connected. Or use other USB ports. The other suggestions they have don't make sense, if you can't talk to the thing, how do you run Seatools or checkdisk?

Fixya doesn't allow me to put in another link at this point, so you'll have to copy and drop this into your address bar.

Here's another write-up on fixing the code 43, I wouldn't do number 6.Update BIOS though, USB is working fine with everything else, it's NOT the BIOS that's having a problem.

As a beginner, i would like to connect seagate external drive to tv and use as a recorder

You can't connect a hard drive to a tv and record to it even if you have a usb port on the tv. The tv will read from the usb port pictures and music but it will not record to it. The tv does not have any software built into it that will let you use the usb port as a personal video recorder. It won't work.
