Kyocera FS-C5300DN - We replaced toner M cartridge but it is still saying Replace Toner?

We replaced the Toner M colour cartridge but after stating it was adding Toner - the printer immediately stated that Toner M needs replacing. How do I get rid of the message & get the printer going again?

SOURCE: Toner and Imaging Unit issues

If this IS a CLP-510, first make an information confirmation print.
Press MENU, then press ENTER, and ENTER again.

Look at the counter for the imaging unit, is it a low count confirming that you have indeed replaced it ?
If not you will need to reset the counter.

Check the counters for the toner cartridges, and check the capacity of the cartridge. On a CLP-510 the image counter for the toner is held on the chip on the cartridge (which also identifies the capacity of the cartridge).

There have been some faulty (oiginal Samsung chips), and of course re-manufactured cartridge chips could fail (many re-manufacturers don' test their cartridges before dispatch, they don't have the facility to do so without starting the count on the chip (or 'bowing' the reset fuse on a CLP-500 cartridge). VERY few re-manufacturers can test these cartridges without starting the count.

Sometimes the 'replace xxxxx toner' messages are caused by toner on the three contacts on the side of the cartridge, or their mating contacts inside the printer. Rarely, this can be caused by a faulty circuit board.

SOURCE: states waste toner full, do i have to replace ? fs

I did not have a rubber plug, but removed the covers (sinked screws) and emptyd out the waste (aprox. 500 grams!).
apart from a fight with wife (I did it on the dinnertable) it did the job.

SOURCE: I keep cleaning the toner/printer

How are you cleaning the tank? Just dumping the contents into a trashcan may not work. The printer uses a light sensor to detect whether the tank is full. When the light does not shine through the clear window of the tank, the printer thinks that the tank is full. Sometimes cleaning the window with a cotton swab will make it work, but it can be difficult since the location of the window with respect to the opening of the tank is not a straight shot.

Another way to clean it would be dump the waste toner into ther trashcan. Tap the tank a few time to get as much of the toner out. Then add some soap and water into the tank and seal the tank opening with the green lid. Then shake the soapy water in the tank for a about a minute. Then dump the soapy toner/water out. Rinse again with just water and and allow it to dry. You don't have to get the tank completely clean, just enough to stop the waste tank error message.

Hope this helps.

You can't. The toner levels are calculated and approximated. Make sure you use genuine Kyocera toner and replace it.

Display says 'replace cartridge' & 'clean printer'. after cleaning out exces toner from where the waste bottle goes and around the toner cartridge and the cartridge that the toner sits in.

Try shaking gently the toner cartrige!!! This may help mix the toner which may be stuck together especially if the printer is not used often enough or stored in a place that is not as specified (humidity, ventilation, etc...).
