5 cd changer problem

I've had this product for 11 years and it has hardly been used at all. I had placed cds into all 5 cd trays without any issues and suddenly the cd player stopped working recently. I have forced the trays open to remove the cds as it wasn't opening, closing or changing tracks. Cd tray 4 and 5 would not retract back to its original position and tray 2 would open and close but not every time. I have unplugged the AC power and held the power button. Is there a DIY solution available to fix this and have it working again?

What brand/model number?

Oops, I thought I had it listed. It is a Panasonic brand and the model no. is SA-PM27 with SB-PM27 speakers. It doesn't make any noise like it previously did ie. changing trays and I have now noticed that when it is on standby the screen lights up like it is switched on and repeats the flashing sequence then returns back to standby, etc. There is no error code displayed either.

SOURCE: CD player problem

Seems like the Timingfor the Tray Open / close has got disturebed. Could be a bad drive gear, or as simple as a loose Drive belt. Get it checked by a professional.

SOURCE: cd player keeps opening with cd in it

Some small item would appear to be obstructing complete closure
With the drawer open take a good look in side.
Also near the  open button you  should see a small pin hole[sometime on the back of the unit]
This is the emergency eject device in case you get a jam and is operated with the end of a paper clip.
give it a poke with the drawer open  then again closed
See what happens

Hi - the CD tray cannot open. It is empty - no CDs in there. I hear a buzz, but an "error" message comes on. I tried pushing on the tray while turning on; I unplgged the CD player, I put it on...

The loading tray belt has more than likely stretched or snapped.
The buzzing you hear will be the motor spinning freely.
The 'ERROR' message will show up because the tray isn't opening
and activating the 'tray open' switch, therefore the 'tray closed' switch
is permanently activated after the 'open/close button is pressed.

The last 3 discs might be CD-RW which can be rewritten, but not all cd players will be able to read them. Just go to the store and buy some CD-R disks and re-burn the last 3 disks. That should solve your problem.

Hi,I have had this Pioneer CDX FM67 mounted on my bike for 5 yrs and it always played good and showed no problems. This year every time I load some cds in the player nothing happens and then I get an error...

It relates to the failure of the loading section. So check on the linking wires/flexible strip to the load motor- this is a ccommon fault and is seen most of the time.
Secondly the tray with CD can get strck due to a faulty disc- being warped. if so manually retrieve and reset.
finally there is a tiny hole near to the eject which can reset the changer if this has hung up or is jammed.
Open the covers and probe.

2004 GTO will not eject CDs, says CD mech error.

I just had this happen the other day. It completely jammed up. I ended up having to remove the radio and disassemble the upper changer section to get the disks out. The problem with mine was that one of the disk trays broke and jammed the mechanism. I ended up gutting the changer and and reassembling the radio and installing it in the car to use the AM/FM function. I'm currently in the search for a new radio to swipe the CD changer off of since even radios that you do not have the security code for will work as the coding is in the radio section and not the CD changer. The changer attaches to the top of the radio with 2 T8 and 4 T10 screws and connects with a ribbon cable between the two modules. You'll see the ribbon cable when the top CD changer mechanism. Be careful removing CDs this way as if the player's rotating assembly is not retracted, it is very easy to scratch the disk. Unfortunately I lost a Velvet Revolver disk this way. Good luck! If you are on one of the the big boards I go by TR GTO on both if you need to contact me and I'll walk you through it.

The tray will not open. I loaded the cd's into the changer, closed the tray and it sounded like one of the cd's may have slipped. It does not change or play.

my friend u r going 2 have 2 take it apart. you will have 2 unscrew 4 or 6 screws from the side or bottem 2 take off the top a take out the cds yourself. its not hard 2 do.just remember tht a disk changer can b off track. its possible 2 pull it open but dnt do it if u will break the door track

CD changer will not accept CD's

I got the ERROR 3 on my Lexus RX330 2004 CD changer, and fixed this problem myself. My CD changer now works fine for more than one month after the repair, and hopefully will continue to work in the future )))) First, I opened top cover of changer ( about 8 screws ). Next step is most difficult - need to detach 4 tiny springs on top corners that hold metal top plate and keep them in the same place not allowing them to fall down (detach the spring, then hook the top with paper clip as to not let the bottom come detached and lose the spring inside). I used paper clips for holding the springs on the coners of the metal frame. Next need to take the metal plate out and then all plastic CD trays with CDs, the plastic trays may jam a little when being lifted out, but they will come out. Take all CDs and don't use them in the changer anymore. Seems the CD changer doesn't like CD-R's. So, use original CDs. Actually I an going to record new CD's using good blank media from good manufactures, will try to see whats gonna happen. So, take out all plastic CD trays keep them in order and facing the right way. After removing all CDs put all things back. Do everything very gently because all parts very precise and easy to break. The cd changer showed "Error 3" for the rest of the evening but then next day was fine and has been working fine since then. I think the computer had to be reset overnight to clear that error. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to PM me.
