PC Optimization to improve your Computer performance

What is PC optimization? In simple words, the PC optimization is working towards improving your PC’s performance. There are thousands of tips and ways to optimize a PC. Today, the software market is flooded with PC optimization software capable of improving the performance of a computer system. Let us focus on some of the important tips of PC optimization.

Clean your PC desktop: Keep your desktop clean. If there are lots of shortcut icons on the desktop then you should remove them. Shortcuts placed on the desktop occupy huge system space thereby making the system slow. It is recommended that you should keep only the recycle bin and some of the most used applications on your PC desktop.

Reduce the maximum size of recycle bin: By default the maximum size of recycle bin is set high. You can change the memory size to a lower value so as to free up your system memory.

Turn off screensaver: Screensavers are also voracious eaters of system’s memory. Turn off the screensavers and colorful displays on your computer to make it fast.
Remove temporary files from your PC: Microsoft Windows system automatically store temporary files at some location on your PC. These temporary files can eat a lot of system memory so you can free up your system memory by removing the temporary files. For instance, Windows XP offers a “Disk Cleanup” utility for removing all the unwanted temporary files stored on your PC.

Identify and repair disk errors: You can check for the integrity of the files stored on your computer hard disk by running the Error checking software utility present in Windows operating system.

Rearrange data stored on your hard disk: Several times the data stored on the hard disk is in fragmented form thereby consuming a large system memory. So, for improving the performance of your computer you should defragment all the data stored on the hard disk. Windows include a built-in software utility known as “Disk Defragmenter”, which is capable of defragmenting the hard disk. Follow this step every month for a better system performance.

Protect your PC against viruses: It is strongly recommended to install some good antivirus software having the automatic update feature to provide real time protection for your PC against viruses, worms and other types of malicious codes.

Finally, it is a good practice to refresh your desktops regularly. Refreshing the desktop will remove all the unused files from the RAM thereby making the system faster.

My system is very slowly proccessed how to keep faster

Hi karthik17v...

You have a couple of things you can do to speed up your system
1...Clean the disk...Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup..Check the boxes/programs you want to clean-up
2...Defrag the HD...Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragment
3...Add as much memory as the computer will allow.
5. Install and use a ram memory saver program...it will clean and allow the reuse of your Ram...
You can download a free ram optimizer from this webpage: http://download.cnet.com/Free-Ram-Optimizer-XP/3000-2086_4-10238479.html?tag=mncol;1
6...Check your computer for virus's,worms,trojans.
You can do this for FREE.
It may take a while to scan and clean your computer, depending on your Hard Drive size.
If the Microsoft Safety Scanner does not remove all the virus/worms/trojans...you will be given an opportunity to talk to a Microsoft Professional (via a chat window) and he/she will take over your computer (with your permission) and finish removing the virus, trojan, worm for you for FREE...
Go to the following webpage and download, install and run Microsoft Safety Scanner:

Hi hrd0013...
Do some cleanup on your computer to see if it runs faster.
Do a disk clean and a disk defragment
Add more memory or a programs that "recycles" your ram like the following FREE program: http://download.cnet.com/Free-Ram-Optimizer-XP/3000-2086_4-10238479.html?tag=mncol;1

1...Disk cleanup...Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disc Clean-up
2...Disk Defragment (Hard Drive )...Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk deframenter
3...Get rid of any unused programs, files, pictures etc..
Your machine should speed up if you do the above.

MY COMPUTER RUN SLOW

Usually motherboard either works or doesn't work. It won't make computer runs slow. Your computer runs slow mostly because of low memory, low diskspace available, driver issue, virus, or spyware. If you surf the web a lot, chance is your computer got spyware or malware. Install a free malware program and use it to clean up your laptop first to see if the problem is improving.

Dell dimension 4600 desk top: has BECOME slow even with fast dsl installed several yrs. ago. will cleaning help? best deal on more memory?

Here's some things you can do:
Run your disk check and defrag.
Run MSCONFIG and uncheck programs that you really don't need at startup.
Run a good malware checking program.
Use a good registry cleaning and optimizing program. I use Registry Mechanic by PC Tools
var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_da4ab955fac74776b5bfe3dbd5a0fc6f(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); } var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_3a06744bd5a440418e70e33ed49241a8(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); }

I have a dell computer and its running slow

Disk Clean up is a small percentage of what you need to do. As you go by installing and uninstalling programs a lot of debris of programs keeps the Windows Registry bloating more and more. And each time you give a command it has to read the registry which takes time. And you feel the computer is slowing down.
Solution:-
Go to www.ccleaner.com and download CCleaner free and install it. Run it and clean up the registry and all others extra baggage that slows the computer down. And wach your PC/laptop gallop after that.

My computer run slow

try to click on start->run->type"msconfig"->then in starup then disable all programs you want but dont disable critical sys programs. This will make sure that all these programs will not star with windows. It will free up memory. You can also try to reinstal System or buy more memory.
