Kenmore Elite SS Bottom draw freezer refrigator is a lemon
I had the very same code ER FF with my 1 year old Kemnore Elite Staneless Steel Bottom Draw freezer refrigator, I ask for help here and was told that is a code for the freezer fan not working, that was right after thanksgiving 08, i ordered the fan from sears and i installed it and every thing returnrd to normal, but when i was installing the fan i noticed water in the plug for that fan and the other fan for the ice maker, also there was corrosion, i cleaned out the plugs and put it all back together and every thing was fine until christmas when the ice maker stopped making ice, i also got the error code ER IF, i checked and i saw the ice maker fan was not working, i decided to get a fan and installed it, the people at sears parts insist there is only one fan at the bottom of that unit and the other duct there is only an air duct and no fan is in it, i eventualy found the part at a web site for LG, by the way that kenmore elite is actually an LG refirgator,i got the part and installed it but when i tried to plug it in i noticed one pin in the plug was missing, the corrosion had eaten away at it and it broke off, now what to do? i sceduled a service call with sears and the technection came to the house, from the onset i looked at him and this man had no clue what to do, which after a shot time he confessed he had never worked on this type of refirgator and i should reschedule, My question now is what to do? can any one help

for using FixYa. Error ff is freezer fan fault. This usually happens when
either the rear board has gone bad or the freezer fan itself is bad and needs
to be replaced. To check what is causing the error you can start with checking
the fan which is located behind the back wall inside the freezer. Also check
the rear board as it might not be putting the fridge into defrost long enough
and is causing the ice to build up in the freezer and thus stopping the freezer
fan from turning and so causing ff error. Leave the fridge unplugged for 24hrs
which will melt all the ice then plug it back if still the issue is not
resolved and you hear the fan running then it is the rear board that needs to
be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else
revert for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
This is an error code for the icemaker fan motor. If the control does not see a signal coming back from the fan motor you will get this error code. Please see the image below from the service manual that explains the ER IF error code.
er ff indicates that the computer on your refrig is not sensing freezer fan operation. a guess as to your problem is that the fan is hitting on ice (the noise your hearing) and teh fan is not able to reach operation speed causing the error code. the fix would be to remove the ice from the fan area either maually or by unplugging the unit and letting it defrost for several hours. also to reset the computer you will neeed to unplug it for a few minutes then plugging it back up. hope that helps thanks Peyton
ER FF - found in another post = Error Freezer Fan. Removed freezer back panel (inside freezer), defrosted ice build up around fan. Error message gone for now. Easy fix at midnight - 20 minutes. Will be looking into ice-up cause.
