Question about Mitsubishi WD-60C9 60" DLP HDTV
Originally, this unit would come to the splash screen and then shut off. If you continued to turn the unit on after it shut off, it would turn on and work perfectly until you turned it on again. You would have to go through turning it on several times again until it finally stayed on. Later, I found several people that had this type of issue, and they were advised to update the software. I extracted the needed files to a thumb drive and followed the instructions to install it. When the splash screen came on, it never turned off, and the green light simply continued flashing. I repeated the process twice, and the issue remained. Please help.

SOURCE: half of screen blacks out
sounds like power supply caps or caps in the dm board
The DM board is the one with the digital connectors on the back panel. If you already have it appart, you may as well check the caps on all of the boards. The caps that go bad are typically Jamicon brand caps in 1000 uF and 330 uF values. There are also a couple of 3300 uF caps in the PS that cause problems.

There are (4) 1000uf @35V capacitors all together on the DM board that need to be replaced some models have 1000uf @ 16V but they are all right beside each other and all rated at 1000ufs the voltages will be stamped on the capacitor along with the uf ratings.

Just started experiencing convergence problem with my Mits ws-65711. I have decided to try to repair on my own and have the service manual. I see also you have step by step instructions for the repair and perhaps photos of the fuses. I could really use this info if you are able to provide. Thanks in advance. I did the self check by holding in MENU and INPUT buttons and got 1 green blink followed by 2 shorter/quicker green blinks?

this problem on these tv's can be caused by a couple of things one is some bad caps in the power supply the other is the bad caps in the dmd board then in that case you normally would need to have the dmd chassis replace at a repair center.
