Question about Behringer Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I have a set of two Behringer Eurolive 215d speakers. I was playing at a party recently and after a song change the speakers lost their tweeter outputs. I tried adjusting the equaliser on the speakers' rear panel but nothing came out of the tweeters. The 15 inch woofer is working fine. Tried repowering the speakers but still have no output on the tweeters. I tried playing other songs and changing the music source but got not output from the tweeter.

SOURCE: karaoke speaker,no woofer or midrange working, only tweeter

Hi, it's probably that the 8" woofer and the midrange of the "amped" enclosure is open. One way to test is to remove just one wire from the inside of the enclosure to the woofer or midrange in question and with the use of a continuity tester (or a VOM), check for the resistance of the coil of each the 2 speakers. Both should read anywhere from 4-8 ohms, if there's no reading (VOM needle will not move) then the coil(s) are open. In the absence of a tester, a single AAA or AA battery would do (pls. some would argue that this is not a sound practice, however this should be enough for you to be able to determine the condition of the coil(s)). With the use of the battery and a single short length of electrical wire, apply power from the battery to the terminals of the speaker, if the cone moves, then chances are it is good, if they don't then you would have to replace it. Am not sure if available in your area, but there are some trained people who can rewind the coil should a replacement speaker be not readily available. Hope this be of help. Please let us know how things turn up. Regards.

SOURCE: woofer not working on new bx8a speaker

Hi ermo

Your new speakers are BiAmped, and if a woofer is not working then it is probably a fault in the amp or connection for that woofer, or the the woofer itself has a problem. If they are brand new, I suggest you take it back to purchase point to get sorted out. There is nothing that you can do that will NOT void your warranty. If you do not have a warranty, then get back to me here and we can work through the problem. Cheers

regards
Graeme

Certainly your hf driver is getting amp rail voltage, this is why tweeter blows, disconnect tweeter and with the unit powered on check the tweeter leads with a voltmeter and let me know the readings, but surely will be dc voltage...

My tweeter isnt working how can i repair it and where

If it's removable then you can probably swap it out of another speaker, or find the specs (stamped on the back of the tweeter) and swap it with one that is compatible in ohms and size, wattage etc. maybe look at www.parts-express.com to start. It's probably not worth repairing in a shop unless it is under warranty still.

Tar like adhesive has gone sticky round speaker cones and volume has droped

The tar like sticky substance is the suspension of the speaker cone and there is nothing wrong with that. Its doping compound applied by the speaker company to damp the speaker ( Was it not always there? ) If the suspension has come off the bass notes will flutter, if not its some other problem. Play some music and put your ears near the tweeters flared horn to see if they working. Nearly 30% of your sound comes from the upper part and if you have damaged it there will be a volume drop.
These speakers are quite complicated on the inside. It has two amplifiers, one for the woofer and one for the tweeter. It also has a digital sound processor. Any thing could be at fault, even a simple wrong setting.

I bought a Behringer Eurolive B1220 Pro speaker with my PA system brand new and it sounded great at first. Now it sounds really muddy (the other 2 speakers I bought work fine) almost as if the horn has...

Bad news...you've blown the tweeters. Overdriving the mixer/amp creates distortion on the amplifier which heats up the speaker voice coils and eventually causes damage. Because of their small diameter voice coil windings the tweeters fail first (opens up like a fuse element does) followed by the woofer making a scraping sound (deformed voice coil) or not working as well. Warranty service because you blew out the tweeters? Don't get your hopes up.

1. PLEASE use enough power for the venue that you have. A high powered system will run all night at 10:00 (physical volume knob setting) than an underpowered system set for 2:00.

2. Get speakers off the ground and closer to your audience's ears. Audio from speakers on the floor must battle surfaces that actually absorb some of the sound....carpet, drapes, etc. And besides, legs can't hear that well.

Behringer 212a every now and again - the tweeter quits

I thought it might be a solder joint, but seems unlikly so is there a capacitor connected to the tweeter? I'm just wondering if that has gone if it has one? It might be loosing it's charge, but is recharged when you power up. It's just a theory!
