The first thing is to make sure that your CD/DVD drive has the windows disk in it. Also check drive C which is where the windows will be installed. It may require that it is hard formated. Hard formatted means "format x /u" [format-space-drive to be formatted-space-right slash-u]. This will place the drive for "windows xp sp2", all of it, to one pass of zeroes. So, once we have a clean drive C and the installation disc is inserted into the CD/DVD drive, you may proceed to install. You will need to find "install" or "setup" and start it on he "RUN" mode. Any questions or help get back to me. CONSTANTIN (arzconst)

The Asus bios won't show SATA devices.
However if you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (or newer operating system then the devices should be detected. If this is not happening then enter the bios -- Storage Configuration -- Configuration Enhanced and set the IDE devices to compatible. This allows all drives to be "seen" and you should then be able to load an OS.

Pop back into the bios and make sure the boot order is correct (cd first), and make sure that you exit and SAVE.
Look out for the press any key to boot fron cd.
If no luck, can you try the disc in another computer to see if it is bootable

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Download and install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It's a very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formats and media. It's totally FREE.
