SOURCE: New ASUS A8V-MX motherboard will not boot to CD or HD with XP

The first thing is to make sure that your CD/DVD drive has the windows disk in it. Also check drive C which is where the windows will be installed. It may require that it is hard formated. Hard formatted means "format x /u" [format-space-drive to be formatted-space-right slash-u]. This will place the drive for "windows xp sp2", all of it, to one pass of zeroes. So, once we have a clean drive C and the installation disc is inserted into the CD/DVD drive, you may proceed to install. You will need to find "install" or "setup" and start it on he "RUN" mode. SOURCE: Asus P5KPL SE & Sata, Bios "Not Detected Problem"..

The Asus bios won't show SATA devices.
However if you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (or newer operating system then the devices should be detected. If this is not happening then enter the bios -- Storage Configuration -- Configuration Enhanced and set the IDE devices to compatible. This allows all drives to be "seen" and you should then be able to load an OS.

19 boot loader

Hello here is the homepage:

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=M2A-VM&p=1&s=24

Try to download the manual, by selecting your windows system.
Open the manual folder, and click on global for download.
Adobe reader, is needed to read content.

Check the bios boot settings for booting, from the dvd drive.
Dvd must be the first boot device, and hard drive the second

I have newer heard of a boot loader.

Good luck

Asus a8n-e m/b gets power, will not post

Hello from here you can download a manual and drivers:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_Socket_939/A8NE/#download

My guees is that the windows disk is damaged or burned to fast.

Since you not get any picture on screen now the graphic card. maybe malfunctioning try to change that and see what happens.

A ps2 keyboard and mouse must be used.
Because the usb function will not work until the system is fully installed.

A restore disk does not contains a full windows its only for repair
purpose.

Good luck

Asus x53u e drive recognized but no working

So you click on the e drive icon and the drawer opens so you can put the dvd in, then you get a message that it is not recognized? The million dollar answer is: It sounds like the DvD is not recognized. Where did you get the dvd that you are trying to play? Did someone make it for you or is it a store purchased dvd?

Computers have problems sometimes with dvd's that someone else made. Maybe the computer is telling you that the DvD Format is not recognized.

Try downloading the VLC Player and see if you can use it to play the dvd.

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Download and install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It's a very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formats and media. It's totally FREE.

Can't read DVD+R that were recorded on LG-DR389 on my PC / Laptop DVD

The DVD+R is the older version that was used, all newer ones use the DVD-R now, your problem is the disc is not recognized in the other players because of the different format.

Hp presario f700/f750us, cd/dvd player, won't boot from start up but is listed first in boot order, not recognized by windows either, won't read, write or play. tray opens and light blinks. tom...

Check the jumper settings in the back of the drive, by the power cable. Make sure your cd/dvd drive is set to SLAVE, with your primary harddrive as MASTER. Check BIOS settings, specifically your boot order, choose which drive you want to load first (usually HD 0), save and exit.
That's just the basics, though.
Another possibility is that you might just have a paperweight ;)
If so, try another drive.
Hope that helps
Cheers from NZ

Asus Eee pc 904 hd how can i reformat my computor to original factory settings

Do you mean to ERASE everything on the hard drive and then re-install the OS and all the drivers from scratch?

Before you do any of the follwing, be ABSOLUTELY SURE that you have access to the drivers you'll need for your computer. If you don't have access to the original CD/DVD, you can download them from here:
http://www.eeeguides.com/2008/03/asus-eee-pc-drivers-download-windows-xp.html

You will also need the SERIAL NUMBER or "PRODUCT ACTIVATION KEY" for your copy of Windows. If you have misplaced this, you can try the following program, which will read the product activation key from your HD:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/rockxp.html

There are several programs out there to erase the contents of your HD and re-format it.

A) One option is to use your OS CD/DVD:

1) Place your OS CD/DVD in the CD-ROM and boot from it (you may need to change something in your BIOS so that the computer does not boot from the HD.

2) After the CD boots, choose "install OS" (do not choose "repair installation").

3) You will be asked if you want to DELETE the partition in your HD that has your OS. Choose "YES". This will delete ALL information previously stored in your HD.

4) Proceed with the OS installation, following the directions on the screen.

5) After the OS is installed and your copy of Windows is validated, install all the drivers

YOU ARE DONE
