SOURCE: My kenmore elite HE3 elec dryer, model #

There are three screws that hold the top panel in place in the rear of the dryer. Remove these screws and the panel will slide back, then lift off. You should have access the outer perimeter of the drum, control board and control panel.

If you need to access the dryer bottom cabinet, remove the lower toe panel directly below the door. The panel comes off by removing the screws under the bottom front edge. With the screws removed, the panel will drop down and then come off.

NOTE: Propping the two front feet of the dryer up can offer better access to the toe panel screws ( a section of 2x4 works well for this).

There are some helpful exploded view diagrams you can use for reference at these following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
appliancepartspros.com
pcappliancerepair.com

Small items (like coins) can often get caught in the dryer drum baffles. They come off easily by removing the screws that hold them on place around the drum perimeter.

CAUTION: Make sure you UNPLUG the dryer before servicing anything inside the cabinet. Dangerous voltage is still present even with the dryer turned off.

If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question*%^%%$$#

I haven't had my washer for very long, about 5 years. It is vibrating excessively no matter the amount of items I place inside to be washed. What is the problem? Would it be worth fixing or just...

Most likely it is the counter weight which came loose one of the shocks are bad. Yes it is worth getting it fixed and if you are somewhat handy you can fix it yourself.
  1. Pull the unit out and unplug it.
  2. Open the back panel of the unit to access the back of the drum.
  3. You should find a counter weight on the top of the drum (a quarter round cinderblock) which should be bolted to the top of the drum. If it is not, bolt it back to the top of the drum if it is not broken which you will have to order a new one.
  4. Make sure the drum springs are attached to the frame then close the unit back up and catch-up on laundry.

Internal leak on a kenmore top load washer

Yes, very likely is a bad water inlet valve allowing water to leak past it into the drum. Really not a difficult repair with a little help.

Squeak in Kenmore HE 2plus front load washer when drum spins

Squeaking noises are hard to find unless u open it and pin point where its coming from.. you can open the back cover if you are comfortable doing so.. let it run to see if you can heard... sometimes the bolt holding the pulley to the drum is loose and need to be tighten. Other possible is the shocks came loose or when install new.. the shipping materials were not remove..

Kenmore front load washer

My Kenmore front-load washer starts to make the huge noise. The noise happens during the wash cycle, but is mild. During the spin cycle, the noise becomes really loud. It looks like the drum is getting loose and hitting other part of the machine.
I checked the drum, and I can sway the drum easily with my hand. So it looks some supporting structure is broken. I don't know if it is easy to open the washer to check what has been broken.
