SOURCE: computer will not boot up shows msg

The problem is the bios "basic input and output systems" there must be a server IRQ conflict or some other form of HALT the best thing you can do is open up the computer and short out the cmos jumper if you do not know what I am talking about your going to need a tech to do it locally. Once this is shorted you turn on the computer "it will not boot" then turn it back off and move the jumper back this will set the bios at "factory defualts". the only way to disgnose this is by doing that. if then it does not boot you going to need to replace the mother board at that time because the bios on these Dell's are not really what I call user servicable.

Good luck
please do be considerate and leave a rating and feedback before you leave.

What does it I mean when it says loading PBR for. Descriptor 2 failed?

That message indicates that the Dell backup partition is trying to load but can't. I would suggest that this indicates a hard drive failure. You can try pressing ctrl+F11 during the startup to try to access the system restore partition, but it looks like, to me, the hard drive is toast.

Screen says" Loading PBR for descriptor

And again and again and drives you up the wall.OK-boot sector is corrupted, or hard drive is going south.What you can try is system restore.On boot see which button is designated for that-usually f10 or f12.Start tapping that button and follow instructions. If that failed, the only option is to reinstall OS.If you have a lot of stuff that you want to save, install Windows in different folder, say WindowsA.All your stuff will be saved on the Hard drive-My Documents.Good luck and keep us posted.

I have a inspiron i1011-26600bk and its telling me a message that says Loading PBR for descriptor 2...done. What should I do?

"Loading PBR for descriptor 2 ... failed" would be the exact error message if the MBR is unable to load the partition boot record for the second partition. There may be more, but here are three possible causes:
1) the partition table is corrupted so that the descriptor points to the wrong place (i.e., says the partition is one place when it's really somewhere else);

2) the partition table descriptor points to the right place, but the boot record there is corrupted or has been erased;
3) The hard disk is failing and having trouble reading the sector with the boot record.

To check (1), visit www.goodells.net/dellrestore/fixes.htm and download the dsrfix utility. In short, if dsrfix reports a clean bill of health, then (1) isn't the problem.

To check (3), run hard disk diagnostic tests. Press F12 when the machine is starting and see if the bios boot menu offers you a hard disk diagnostic test that you can run. Or even better, if you know the brand of the hard disk, most manufacturers should have a free diagnostic utility you can download to test the hard disk.

If it's not (1) or (3), then use Ctrl+F11 to run the Dell restore utility to recreate the Windows partition.

May I know whether the Hard Drive is listed in the BIOS? Try reinstalling the Windows using the Windows OS disc.

Having problem with Photo Explosion on Windows 7. Get this error Load MPEG vio Driver Error "ulead.datPE.ini

A way to fix this error which is a font problem is to take the PE.ini from ProgramData\Ulead Systems\Ulead Photo Express\6.0 and stick it in the ulead.dat file in the Program Files (x86) if you have a 64 bit system and then find the u32Comm file in the program files (x86) and change the font to a font where it will not say that error again, I have done this in Windows Vista before and it worked, I also done it in Windows 7 and that also worked allthough right now I can't remember what font so you'll have to trial and error the fonts and maybe the sizes etc. but it's mainly a font error within Photo Explosion Deluxe, 1 problem I'm having is Photo Explosion Deluxe 3.0 loads on one desktop and loads fine newly created desktops but it doesn't load on others. I figure it was made by cheap software creators.

Won't startup(dell desktop 4600)

Attempt to boot the machine in Safe-Mode.
While powering up continuously hit F8.
You will get a Boot Option Menu
Select Safe-Mode boot

If this works for you, you should use MSCONFIG to remove some start up items.

Start > Run > MSCONFIG and then go to the Startup tab and un-check entrys of programs you dont need starting up in the begining.

As far as what was deleted, this could be these simple steps.

Let us know if you run into any bumps
Good luck

Loading PBR for descriptor 2...done

Boot to the Diagnistics FN+POWER at boot, run hard drive diagnostics. The PBR Descriptor 2 message is part of the normal boot process (directing the boot loader to Primary Boot Recond 2, the C: Drive) but usually flashes on an off so fast most people never notice it. Since the boot process is not going past the re-direct it is indicative of a bad hdd (Since the re-image process crashed)
Most likely you are looking at a hard drive replacement.
Regardless you are going to need an XP CD (you'll have to reinstall windows or run recovery console at a minimum)

Error loading operating system

If you take a hard drive for one computer to another the windows wil have to be reinstalled as windows looks at the hardware configuation and if it doesn not match, will not run. If the 20 gb hard is working , reinstall it then using backup software back it up to another hard drive.That will work. Personally I use" Acronis true home" software to change a hard drive but their  are other  wil also work. Some  backup and transfer softwware even come with the replacment hard drives.
