Branch loads that are fed by the Main are pulling the amperage to make the breaker warm. Breaker should trip if over 125% of rating

SOURCE: wiring diagram for three phase power with two 200 amp service boxes inside building

This work requires a license (or qualified person) everywhere that the National Electrical Code is enforced.

If you're asking how to wire a single phase 200 amp panel from a larger, 3 phase panel of the same voltage - ONE way is to install a 2 pole - 200 amp breaker into the 3 phase panel. Provide 4 correctly sized conductors with the correct insulation in a cable or conduit between the 3 phase panel and the 200 amp single phase panel. Two of these conductors should be black and red (for 120/208 volt system) and connect to the 2 pole - 200 amp circuit breaker terminals, the third should be white and connected to the neutral bus bar. The forth should be green and is connected to the neutral bus bar as well but *only if* it is "service equipment" If it is a "main or sub panel", the green wire should be connected to the ground bus bar. The other end of the conductors should be terminated in a "main lug only" 200 amp panel. The back and red connect to "line 1" and "line 2" bus lugs, the white to the neutral bus bar that is NOT electrically connected to the panel enclosure (do not install the screw or strap between the bar and enclosure). The green must be connected by installing a separate bar that is securely fastened both mechanically and electrically to the enclosure for ground connections.

There is a great deal going on here - and plenty of variables that can change how to do this work, safely and correctly. This is an example of just ONE of many different ways to do the work for a particular installation. There is no one way that works for all situations. If your situation does not support this method - you will have an unsafe installation and subject the building and people in it to a dangerous fire / safety hazard.

Please, consult a licensed electrician before attempting this work.

200 amp

I am pretty sure you would have to order that breaker to get it. if its 200 amp panel it will hold 200 amps. why do you think u would have to derate it for the solar panels. they do not create any electric load as I would think they would actually feed power into the panel and feed it back to the power grid. that would in itself lighten the load on the 200 amp main. I am going to sign up for the mobile app thing. as soon as I read up on it and will be able to discuss this more as u wish and offer assistance if need be.

have a great day and good luck

I recently had new service installed. 200 amp load center at the top of my stairs, and a QOM2E2200NRB 200 amp enclosed breaker next to the meter socket. Idiot electrician bonded the neutral in the load...

Problem is not clear.
You have 200 Amp cut off by meter, with 3 wires from meter box:
2 Hot wires and a ground.

You have 200 amp service panel.
Does the ground wire enter service panel from cut off box?

My 200 amp braeker(main is tripped and wont reset. What should the incoming voltage be???

Don't mess with main breaker if you're not qualified.
Wires on main breaker are Hot even when main is turned off.
The only way to turn off main is to pull meter.

1) There are 2 Hot wires that connect to main breaker.
Each wire is 120Volts, and each 120V line is 'out of phase' with the other.
Two out of phase 120V lines create 240Volt circuit when they are wired together.
Read more on links below.

2) It sounds like your main breaker needs to be replaced, unless total of all circuits exceeds 160 amp. Turn off small circuit breakers and try main breaker again. If main resets, then turn small circuits back on one by one. Your main may still be bad.

200 amp trips

So one leg of your 220 was hot to the touch. If this wire is coming from your meter and going into the top of the main breaker. Be careful, it is hot and there is nothing you can do to kill the power from it. I would suggest getting a qualified electrician with the proper tools to see if the lug is loose on the breaker. If the wire is not tight in the lug that will produce heat.

Main breaker tripping

get acceess or rent an amp clamp meter with a "max hold" and clamp it on each line wire coming into the box (if you're not experienced in this hire an electrician being tht it can kill you if not done correctly and safely) when it blows check amps to each "leg" and see if it is over 200 amps. if it is under, the main breaker should be replaced . If it is over, clamp it on the "hot" side of each
circuit that you suspect may be pulling too much. If this all comes out ok, have the main service connections to the main breaker checked for being tight. This is a last resort, but I'
ve seen them heat up from being loose and then throw the main. The over all amps could be pulling too much, but it takes alot of things running at the same time to throw a 200 amp main.

Goodd luck!

My 200 amp Siemens main electric box is heating

This is a dangerous situation! There is a short in the furnace. It is NOT a breaker problem! You need to check the current draw in the furnace circuit, This requires an Amprobe meter. If you don't have one, contact a technician at once! You have a fire hazard!

Bought wrong panel

no, not to code plus the expense would not justify , you can purchase the 200 amp panel with the main already installed cheaper than purchasing the 200 amp breaker in most cases and still meet the code check on a panel package called a home owners kit ge makes one square d , makes one either good quality , you get the 200 amp panel, several breakers such as 20 amp 50 amp 30 amp by far the best route for you
