SOURCE: Maytag side by side is leaking water from the freezer sid

We also had the exact same problem with our Maytag side by side. We kept getting a small puddle down on the floor under the freezer side of the unit. There was also a giant ice block puddle that had formed on the inside bottom of the freezer compartment. We solved the problem in about an hour. First, we pulled the unit out from the wall and checked behind and underneath the unit with a flashlight. The little drip pan that collects the water was completely dry. That told us that there was a plug somewhere in the drain line. We removed all of the food and shelves inside the freezer so we could access the inside, back panel. My husband unscrewed the two bolts and removed both panels. We found the problem. The drain pan had frozen and all of the water was overflowing inside the freezer compartment and ultimately out onto our floor. There was also a giant snowball around all of the wiring. We used a heat gun and gently de-iced the snowball and the ice in the drain pan. The manual also says you can use a hairdryer for this. Then, my husband used his air compressor and gently blew into the hole to clear out the blockage. We checked behind the unit again and saw that the clog had released and water was flowing into the drip pan. Problem solved. It is important to get the clog out of the drain line so that the problem doesn't occur again. We put everything back together and everything seems fine now. I am also going to check the defrost timer to make sure it is timing properly every 28 minutes or so. You need your manual for this to determine steps to check the timer. It is important for the timer to be set correctly so that the unit goes into defrost mode every 28 minutes. This will also help keep the water flowing and draining w/out having time to completely freeze up. The original root cause of our problem is we had a faulty ice-maker. It had overflowed about 3 months ago. The heavy surge of water, and the small plug in the line is what started this. Another problem we have had with this unit is the plastic tubing in the back. We had one of the lines turn yellow and crack. So every few months we pull the unit out from the wall, vacuum underneath and check the plastic tubing for leaks and breakage.

SOURCE: water leaking underneath refrigerator/water freezing in bottom of freezer

I'm dealing with the same problem right now with the same refrigerator. The cold water tank (for the front dispenser) has a hole in it that leaks every time someone dispenses water from the front door. You will find the water tank behind the top slide-out drawer in the fridge. The leaked water flows down one of the water tubes through a hole in the bottom of the fridge and onto the floor. I'll bet you have the same problem. Good Luck.

SOURCE: Freezer leaks water even after water supply turned off

Remove the food from the lower portion of the freezer and remove the 2 screws which hold the rear freezer panel on . Remove the panel and use a hair dryer to defrost the ice built up over the drain . Once you see the black drain hole , concentrate on defrosting the hole . Once defrosted , the ice water will drain into the hole . I would use a small hose inserted into the drain and blow thru , to remove any debris built up inside the drain . Reinstall the panel and food .

Check your door seals. The air gets in, the moisture freezes then the defrost cycle turns it into water.

My Maytag MZD2766GES is leaking water to the bottom of my freezer, which, when it get alot starts leaking all over the floor. where is this coming from?

Hello,

The water is from the melted frost of the defrost cycle. The drain at the bottom of the back wall of the freezer is blocked so instead of the water draining into the pan where it will evaperate,it's pooling on the freezer floor and freezing, in many case when the floor indent is full the water will leak onto the floor.By pulling the refrigerator out from the wall, there will be a tube behind the service panel on the right side when looking at it from the rear, that tube can be removed and cleared, then clear the nozzle it connects to inside the freezer.

I hope this helps you to stop the leak,
Gene

Water is leaking in the back of tehe freezer. the msd# 2454grw serial # 12756418zk

This is a common problem with all refrigerators that have auto defrost as long as the water is not entering freezer from another place other than the area below the evaporator. What happens is after a while defrost pick up things (dust) from the air and smells inside your refrigerator and begins to block the condensate drain line just enough to cause ice to freeze the drain over. This will cause water to flow over and down the back of the inside of your freezer showing up at the bottom of location 20 in this photo here=> MSD2454GRW Freezer Components Unplug your refrigerator and remove that panel #20 in photo and you will see location 14. That is the beginning of the condensate drain that carries the water to a pan below your refrigerator. Click here for more=> Leaking Refrigerators This may take a few minutes to read over but doing this yourself can save a lot of money by not making a service call and if this is what you want to do. If you have any questions I will be here to answer them for you, Thanks and please rate this solution if this helps and if something else I will be glad to help you, Sea Breeze

My Maytag side-by-side refrigerator/freezer Leak

There is a pan and drain hose under the freezer coil that is there to catch any water when the freezer goes into defrost. I feel strongly that is where you will find your leak.
I hope this helps.

Ice freezing up on bottom of freezer and water puddles in front

Two possibilities, ice maker leaking or the defrost drain is blocked with ice or another object. Unplug the freezer and remove the rear panel in back of freezer. At bottom of the evaporator coil is a tray that catches the defrost condensate and sends it to the pan beneath your refrigerator to be be heated by the compressor and fan heat produced from the condenser. The moisture is then returned to the air inside your home. If the drain is blocked with ice or anything between the freezer and the pan below, the condensate tray will overflow will end up inside your freezer or fresh food compartment. Questions? I will be here to help you, Let me know, Sea Breeze
