Are you able to get sound from your system without the speakers?

Right click on My Computer - click Manage - Click on Device Manager

Does the audio listed in the window have a red X or yellow exclamation point?

Do u have any other speakers u can use ?
can u plug in the speakers into some thing els ( mp3 ipod )
to see if u can hear anything ?
if they work then its time to get new pc speakers
if they dont work then go to the control pannel and see the volume control pannel to see if the volume slider is to low or muted
i have had the same problem so a friend told me to look at the sound
bit and it worked fine as i had the volume lvl low

No sound coming from the rear speakers

I had the exact same problem and could not for the life of me figure it out. I literally just figured it out now, over two years later. If you plug your speakers into your computer using each separate plug (black, green, and yellow), use the adapter that should have come with the speakers set. I'm sure if you've had it long enough you may have lost it by now but luckily my pack-rat ways saved the day for me. Use the adapter so that you only need to plug into the green input and they work perfectly now. If that doesn't solve your problem... well I guess you're outta luck with me.
