Re: a black hair line as appeared on the screen
Either hair or some other debris has found it way on to the LCD display. The good thing is that hair line will not stop the unit from working. I know it bugs you. If you take it apart you will knock the unit out of alignment. You can either live with it or buy a new one...That's all I got.

back again on his word. The Wizard requires Dorothy and friends to bring back the broomstick for this Wicked Witch of free airline before he grants their wishes. When they bring him the broomstick, the Wizard realizes he can't actually keep his promise. Know your business and its capabilities. for this you will need to send the unit into their repair at 8500 marshall drive lenexa ks 66214 4-6 week turnaround and put your name address and telephone number inside the package. if there is a cost they will send an estimate.
The problem is a broken 9 volt battery cable.....The red or black cable has broken underneath the battery cover. You can try to re-solder it....make sure it is clean first.....clean it with acetone or high grade alcohol...>91% or higher< if you can get soldering rosin put that on after cleaning then, re-attach broken wire(under black 9 volt cover)
Well after going through the reset procedure (holding both buttons down for 30 seconds) the unit didn't appear to be working. Being somewhat new to the proper use of this device it appears that it might be sensitive to low light conditions or certain objects. After playing with it more I'm now able to get it to work but there are still certain conditions where it won't give me a reading.
Put the unit on a table with the eyepiece up. Put the small loop of the wrist strap through the place provided under the eyepiece. (small slot with a pin) Put the rest of the strap through the small loop and pull tight. That's it........
This is what happens to Pinseekers when the eyepiece cap in not used. Sunlight is focused through the lens right on the surface of the Liquid Crystal Display.(LCD) The heat generated burns into the surface of the display. The black spot happens when the pinseeker was left pointing skyward, when the sun is high, for a hour or so. The LCD can be replaced. I would have it aligned if it needs it. Mail it in to bushnell for repairs. mtg
