either the Plasma glass envelope has failed. this brings the plasma chamber to be at atmosphere. Or. the very high voltage power supply for the plasma to light has failed. if the tv has been dropped or otherwise been handled roughly the plasma tube can fail as they are fragile to say the least.
When you turn the plasma on do you get a solid indicator light on the front of the tv? You also get sound just fine, but a blank screen and no picture. I'm still looking for a definite answer, but I repaired a Hitachi 42edt41a that had the exact same problems. On that plasma there was an X-sustain board and a Y-sustian board that needed to be replaced. Hopefully someone else can give their assistance as well.
That's probably down to the AV cable. Have you tried it on another TV to eliminate the TV?How are you connecting? Component or Scart adapter? Tried swapping from one to the other to eliminate any possible issues?
sound no picture. well not entirely bad this idicate your signal getting through and you have partial power. however this could mean that the actuall panel is faulty. if so new set time. What is the model and make of set.
