If the signal is good statement seems to imply that it is working, perhaps this is my misinterpretation of what you mean by this. Signal refers to the abi;ity to connect to satellites 4 are requied for triangulation. If the unit is fully charged and not connecting , then it is quite possible that the unit has a damaged SIIRF chip or whatever chip was used in your model to acquire satellite connection. The cost of repair is costly, it means total replacement of the M/Board. Never start car with the unit connected into DC car power, spikes will damage the chip
Hi. You are facing this problem because of the US GPS Satellite because there's a sudden change with the code signal which leads to GPS signal anomalies. Even though you've traded it. the problem is still there. It's better to go with another brand or model. As this problem cannot be fixed with this unit.
I suddenly lost the GPS signal today and could not get it back. All I got was the "No valid GPS signal". My solution was to tap on the GPS satellite bars when in the route map. this brought up the "Status summary page of the TOMTOM.
I then again tapped the satellite bar which brought up the "GPS Status" page. I then tapped the bar labeled "configure".
The radio button next to the option titled "Minutes (dm.m') was selected. I then moved the selection to "Degrees (d.d) and it started working.
I had just downloaded the GPS fix 5 days ago so it is not like this suddenly caused it to stop working.
This may not work for everyone but this is what it took to get mine working.
How long are you waiting and are you moving while it is trying to acquire signal? These receivers are using older circuitry that may take up to 20 minutes to first acquire a signal from a cold start. If you are moving it may take longer!!! The good news is that after you have initially acquired a location, if you turn the unit off it will only take a minute or so to reacquire after it has "warmed" up.
