Destination.msi issue (O/S = Vista SP1)

During boot up, windows installer is trying to find destination.msi at some default file path it thinks it should be but. I've been searching & searching forums and posts for answers and don't seem to get a good one... It would seem my registry cleaner killed it at some point. I think it has to do with a HP 6840 network printer installed on my network... I have searched the cd for the file to try to replace and don't seem to be able to locate it... Please provide some direction here...

Recently I had to uninstall Internet Explorer 8..Beta cuz I had major problems with. Now I am back to IE 7..no problems,I had to uninstall my printer and reinstall. I had an error message before I did that and after so now I'm not sure how to fix..The error says THE FEATURE YOU ARE TRYING TO USE IS ON A CD ROM OR OTHER REMOVEABLE DISK THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE..Upon restarting my PC I had the ERROR THAT SAID DESTINATIONS.MSI AND SOMETHING LIKE IT CAN'T BE FOUND..Also I have the REGCURE that cleans up my PC..I have Windows Vista Service pack 1..Can anyone please help me with this??

My computer programs started to be taken over by windows media program,so I tried to stop this by putting my programs and files accidently into c folder ...8activator.exe.Thats when my problems began,

Wow, I hate to necro an old thread here, but seeing as how there is no answer I will chime in here.

You need to change your file associations. This process varies from one OS version to the next so follow the links below for your respective Windows version. I will include XP since I know plenty of people still cling to that to this day.

I use Windows 10 which does not have Media Center, so I know that walkthrough does not help you. However, it may help others with similar file association issues.

Pro tools m-powered problem

You may need to check to see which "service pack" you are currently on.

See below requirements:

System Software — Windows XP & Vista
  • Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition
    • 32-bit OS Installation Only
  • Windows XP Professional or Home Edition
    • With Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3

  • Not Supported:
    • Windows Vista 64-bit (any version)
    • Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
    • Windows XP Media Center Edition
    • Windows 98, Me, 2000, NT, 95, 3.1, DOS

  • Not Tested:
    • Windows Vista Home and Home Premium Edition
    • Although Windows Vista Home and Home Premium Edition have not been tested or qualified by Digidesign, there are currently no known issues with Vista Home and Home Premium 32-bit operating systems and Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 compared to the supported Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition operating systems.

Windows Vista SP1
There are currently no known issues with Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista based on our initial limited testing and customer feedback. Although full qualification with all Digidesign products has not been completed, we do not recommend against updating to SP1, given the number of important overall system fixes in SP1. We do recommend that you backup your system and create a restore point before updating to SP1, should you encounter any problems after installing the update.

Help My Sandisk U3 Locks up vista SP1 useing intel 920i

Very well could be due to the fact your running 64bit Vista. I would try shutting the computer off, connect the U3,then turn on the computer. Sometimes the drives come with software that could be causing the problem also due to the try to install themselves when connected. You could also try booting up in safe mode. Press F5 repeatedly when the computer is booting up and this will take you to a menu that you can choose the safe mode option and try to connect the drive in this mode. You can then load/disable files or software on the drive that may be the cause of the problem. Also try the drive in another computer if possible and if it works try getting the firmware update from the sandisk website. It is possible the drive itself could be bad.

Try This:
  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type a command line similar to the following, and then click OK new network path\Setup.exe /fvm package name.msiwhere new network path is the full path to the alternative network administrative installation, and package name is the name of the Windows Installer .msi package on the root of this administrative installation (for example, Proplus.msi).

  3. Click OK when the update is finished

Acer T-180 hangs at "Verifying DMI Data"

The cause of this problems is a corrupt boot files, Settings for hard disk drive are not correct,Floppy diskette or CD in computer causing issue, Boot devices not set properly, BIOS corrupt or misc. hard disk jumper setting not set properly, Connections loose or disconnected, Bad Hard disk drive or other bad hardware.

Note: Try this first. Check the cable setting of your hard disk in the BIOS. try swithching it to IDE, SATA, RAID. save your seetings and restart your computer.

if problem still exist... Follow this steps..

Step 1: If you have a USB stick with capacity of 4Gb and up or another hard disk... try installing a fresh Operating System in the USB stick or in the extra hard disk that you have.. after you install.. boot to bios and set the Primary boot in the extra hard disk or Removable Device (USB) save your settings and restart.. your computer will start normally booting the windows in your newly installed extra hard disk or USB stick. when you are in the Desktop, now try accessing your old hard disk and copy your files.. after you backup your files to the new installed hard disk. go to step 2.

Step 2: Turn off your computer... uninstalled the newly installed hard disk or USB.. after you uninstalled the hardware.. turn on your computer and reinstall your Operating System again. if the problem still exist go to step 3.

Step 3: if the problem stil exist. i think ther is something wrong with your hard disk.. try installing the OS again in second partitioned of your hard disk.. create first partition, then second partition. then installed your OS in second partition... if the problem still exist and you cannot go to windows desktop.. maybe your hard disk drive is damaged...

Hope I Can Help

Attempted to upgrade Vista to SP1 on an E-machine, during install, Norton reinstalled, upon rebooting - BSOD so I don't know if SP1 issue or Norton, or both. Using VISTA disk, the bar progresses and then...

Try booting into safe mode.
If you can, I suggest getting rid of Norton. The drivers are not compatable with vista.
Vista has a ton of issues and many types of softwhere will not run or work.
If you want a good virus software, use the new software from Microsoft.

I can not install OfficeSuite. I have Windows Vista home Premium. I had downloaded updates all afternoon and it still shows error 1719 Window installer not correctly installed. Help!

Download:Windows Vista Service Pack 1

I tried personally in WIN-XP worked same applies to Vista.

Error Message:
Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. You may be running in safe mode or Windows Installer may not be correctly installed. Translation:
This message might appear when you’re trying to add or remove a program that installs via a Windows Installer MSI (Microsoft Software Installation) package file. The Windows Installer Service is the standard method for installing and uninstalling software on Windows XP. It keeps track of all of the components that need to be installed for a particular program to run and ensures that any files that are shared by programs are not removed when one of those programs is uninstalled. The Error 1719 is an indication that some Windows Installer Service files are missing or have become damaged. Solution:
The first thing to try is re-registering Windows Installer in the Windows registry. Make sure that no other programs are running and then click Start, Run, type msiexec /unregister in the Open field, and click OK. Next, click Start, Run, type misexec /regserver in the Open field, and click OK. Restart your computer and try installing or uninstalling again.

If you’re still getting the error message, the next step is to try reinstalling the Windows Installer files. In order to do this, you’ll first need to rename the existing files.

First, click Start, Run, and type msiexec /unregister in the Open field, and click OK.

In My Computer, click Search and locate the following three files: msi.dll, msiexec.exe, and msihnd.dll. They are hidden files so you’ll need to select Search Hidden Files And Folders under More Advanced Options. When you’ve found the files, rename them, by removing the .dll and .exe extensions and replacing them with an .old extension(for example msi.dll becomes msi.old).

Once you’ve renamed the files, WinXP will automatically replace them with a new copy from the dllcache (a hidden folder where copies of important system files are kept in case you mistakenly delete or rename critical system files). Restart your computer and try to install or uninstall the program again.

Finally, if neither of the above processes corrects the problem, boot into Safe Mode, and go through the above steps again, first re-registering and then reinstalling.

Reset my acer aspire 6920 to factory settings

This is a tried and tested way to recover it takes quite long but here goes: (remember to backup all your documents first)

First you will need your Windows Vista Home Premium licence key the easiest way is to boot to safe mode using F8 then use a U3 stick USB drive with this U3 WinkeyFinder installed to find and save your Genuine Licence and also backup your Windows Activation file you will need this for later.

1.Install your Windows Vista Home SP1 operating system using the normal method with your install CD use you Genuine Key found using WinKey. Then restore you activation file using Winkey on the U3 drive.

2. Dowload the Windows Vista SP2 Patch CD from the Windows Website.

3. Reload all you drivers using this excellent Aspire 6920 recovery CD from WinGuides. It will cost you £10.

All done. if you dont have a Windows Vista SP1 Install CD then you will also have to download one which you can do legally as you already have a Genuine Licence if not check using this MGA Tool

Hope this helps please rate !

C2881 wont boot after sp2 installed

Generally when an SP2 installation doesn't take it means that there was some corruption of the SP1 installation. Usually virus related.

Although it is possible, I doubt very highly that replacing hardware will fix this problem. This is a software related issue and should be repaired as such.

You'll need to boot to the XP recovery console and then perform an uninstallation of SP2. Then you'll need to disinfect the SP1 installation (check for winlogon infections!)

Please, do not attempt to physically replace the BIOS ROM. You'll probably brick your motherboard.

If this doesn't solve your errors or you need more information please post back with what BSoD you're getting when the computer starts. And if possible upload the .dmp file from C:\Windows\Minidump to a file hosting service.

Photo explosion deluxe will not install

Hello Again...

Install the InstallShield InstallScript engine. To do this, you will need to click on the following link to download the IsScript.zip file:
http://support.installshield.com/kb/files/Q107094/IsScript.zip
When prompted to Run or Save the file, select the Save option and select a location to save it, such as your desktop. After the file has completed the download, double-click on the file to open it. Extract the IsScript.msi file to a location, such as your desktop. Once that is extracted, double-click on that file to run the IsScript installation. After this installation has been performed, reboot your computer and try to install the software again.

This Should Solve your Issue...
